Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

No internet for the last 3 days in uitenhage. Phoned 10210 and thr guy told me I am being affected by maintenance on my area. For 3 days without informing me. Thanks a lot. Doesnt even know when it will be sorted. Why should I pay for no internet.

Mine is back to normal since yesterday, interwebz is now strong like a ox again :D
 
Just bit the bullet and upped my afrihost free gig to 4. I'm watching The F1 from Singapore if TI likes it or not.

They only billed me R10 for it too - bargain!
 
Our's has been extremely sluggish (unusable virtually) since early morning. Port reset has achieved nothing.
 
As I say, I gave up. On Afrihost capped at the moment. The difference between this and the TI experience of late is pretty frightening. Supersport, in HD, without buffering. Never would have believed it was possible. Watched Singapore F1 Practice 3 right through. Best streaming experience ever.

I also have issues with Supersport buffering, hence I don't even try them any more. Much as SS deny it, they definitely favour their own ISP or have problems with their CDN delivery.
 
I just switched back to my TI uncapped account and tried Supersport. Clicked on a video: It didn't even begin to play! Just watched the dreaded buffer wheel go 'round and 'round...

Back to Afrihost: opens stream, plays in HD, no problems.

This has made me seriously reconsider my love affair with TI, it really has. Particularly looking at Afrihosts' capped data prices and my usage needs.

I use my Afrihost capped more often than my Telkom account (time wise) these days. As much as i hate to say this the days of uncapped on Telkom for me seem to be numbered. A high capped account with unlimited download at night time (something like Web Africa) is something im currently looking at.
