Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Weird. Will try my WA capped account when I get back home and see if it's ISP related.

It seems to be unfortunately, tried an afrihost trial account last night and runs 100%, was hoping after all the crap I had last week and a smooth running weekend it'd be sorted, but seems not:mad:

Back to normal now. Didn't have to reset anything either. :wtf:

My 2mb uncapped internet has also been weird the past 2 days but only after 17:00. Well its not actually strange, its completely useless to browse or anything.

Anyone else experience this problem? I am in the northern suburbs of Cape Town.

With Telkom in Nothern Suburbs it's one day on, 3 days off. That one day on always causes you not to cancel your account. Right now browsing is painfully slow, and I cannot stream anything or load any online menu on my xbmc.
Telkom uncapped. On 43 gigs for this month, 90% of it between 12-7am.
Speedtest.net and Telkom speedtest, which receives huge priority shows nothing wrong. testmy.net, which Telkom cannot cheat at, shows the true story:

Pretty much the same I've been getting on mybb test http://testmy.net/dfa0UnH.HJWGBF4.png in a nutshell, crap

Wel I just used about 40gb of telkom capped and changed to uncapped, can't even stream youtube at 360p but when I switch to axxess capped (which lets be honest isn't the best provider with regards to speed) I can stream 720p60

Telkom horrors:

Nope.Jpg - Cancelled. Switched to Afrihost smooth sailing:

Telkom seems to be in a speed slump at the moment. Streaming is a schlep and even general browsing and email is slower than usual.

This morning it took 15+ minutes to half email a 7mb file - eventually I gave up and switched to 3G and off it went in under a minute. :o

+1 here in normally speedy sedgefield. It seems our "Slow Town" status now extends to internet infrastructure as well. TI capped and uncapped accounts very slow and flaky last night and this morning, but not all the time. Fast one minute, like a tortoise the next.

As usual, we await Ranger's update...

Seems nightsurfer lost the plot last night and totally disabled p2p between 00:00 & 07:00.

Well I have just cancelled. I have cancelled before and cancelled the cancel (try saying that fast), but come 19 December I am gone. And this time it only took 15 minutes from calling to ref number.

I really appreciate all the effort in helping and explaining from people like ranger , but at the end of the day, if you read this and the previous thread from start to finish, it really are just pages full of excuses.

I am of the opinion that there is simply a fundamental lack of not only bandwidth but also infrastructure country-wide.

It isn't coping with the massive uptake and increase in demand for bandwidth in recent years.

Like eskom, planning simply didn't happen.

So IMHO this is why 'isp-hopping' is really just a waste of time. They are all struggling in one way or another to balance demand with customer satisfaction with trying to make a profit.

So all these uncapped feedback threads are indeed "just pages full of excuses" for the reasons I mention.

I'm over it. Just keep hoping it eventually improves.

Completely agree with this ^

Browsing through the other ISP feedback threads, it seems every one of them has their fair share of issues. All anyone can hope for is that things get resolved asap with their respective provider.
