Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Anyone having issues with authenticating with their TI account on a Mikrotik Router? I discovered that my internet problems have been caused by having to PPPoE on the Mikrotik. Any other account authenticates just fine. Any help with this will be much appreciated.
Same prob here, maybe load shedding related?

Well, Telkom, if I cannot use my account for gaming, I will go looking for something to download ... , torrents, nzb, both ... , but I will get value out off the account one way or the other.

Quick question (Not sure if asked before) I am on a telkom 6mb asdl line with 50gb capped data account. What is the process if i wish to cancelled the capped account but keep the line with telkom. Is there an online function that allow you do this?

Go to a telkom shop nearby.
I ordered 4mb telkom uncapped last week Wednesday in a telkom shop(rosebank),then on last Friday the installer came to the house and I have internet since.

Were you using the same method on both connections (e.g. both from the modem)?

There have been some problems with some models of modem when reconnecting after a power failure if the DSLAM is connected to a BNG.

Is there anyway to get this working easily.

Normally when I have a big rain storm, my adsl drops out, and my router seems to have a problem connecting to Telkom. Getting authentication failed errors, and sometimes only a off and on restart helps this. Have been struggling from this morning, where I keep getting authentication fail, but can connect no problem to another ISP.

Help anyone?

For the past few weeks, I randomly get a 'limited' internet connectivity status on my wifi icon. It says the DNS server is unavailable. I tried many methods, including restarting and rebooting the moderm, leaving it off, flushing the DNS, etc...but nothing helps, it fixes it self when ever it wants to. It can take quite some time for it to get back to normal, and it's really frustrating. Sometimes when accessing the modern by typing the ip address on a Web page, it says the Telkom ACS servers are busy configuring the moderm now. I use a VPN service often, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. It's a dlink 2750 u and a 2mb uncapped account.

Edit: I disconnected the adsl cable and the limited wifi symbol still appears even though I'm not connected to the internet. This means there is a problem with the moderm right? What can I do about this? Thanks.

If I recall correctly since Windows 7 was launched it polls a link to determine if you are on network with WEB access or not. Hence Public/Home/Work networks under network connections.
See if you can access the following link: http://www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt
If you are using content filtering, white-list the www.msftncsi.com url

I`ve also experienced some DNS issues on Telkom dynamic DNS. Try using Google`s dns. Primary 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4

OK, phoned Telkom two days in a row. Call Centre absolutely useless as expected.

My Telkom ISP account just cannot log in. When I use another ISP, it logs in within seconds. So obviously the problem is not on my side. They still insist that I reboot my router, as if I haven't tried this before. I humour them, and restart the router. 20 minutes of no successful logons, she gives up, and logs a call for a technician to drive out. No idea what the technician is going to do physically in my house, but sure, come on in. Maybe he can phone someone from here with half a brain that can help him solve the issue.

Anyone know another way I can log an issue with them besides phoning the call centre? We don't have a Telkom ISP Official Representative on the forum do we?

Lol what alternatives can you provide?

From experience, Always use the telkom dns. If that doesn't work phone the call center, it will more then likely be resolved quicker than whatever fault google dns caused with your net.

rndf-ip-dns.saix.net 196.43.42.190 Johannesburg Distributed Recursive Caching only DNS
tpr-ip-dns.saix.net 196.43.45.190 Pretoria Distributed Recursive Caching only DNS
wblv-ip-dns.saix.net 196.43.46.190 Cape Town Distributed Recursive Caching only DNS

Lol its ok. Switching ISP's anyway. Did not have a good TI experience lately. Having 10meg uncapped that only works from 00:00 to 07:00 is no go for me.
