Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

It seems they have altered my discount.
No idea why though?

Annoying.
The TI/Telkom discounts have always been a grey area, I get a "Do Uncapped Premium Bundle" discount which seems to be 10%. I've never applied for the 25% voice line discount because it's billed under my call plan so I guess it's already included.

same problem, logged a dispute.

if they alter it, it means they've voided the agreement and I will then move to another better performing service.

simple.

Yesterday afternoon my speeds were pathetic, totally unable to stream anything despite my speedtest showing good numbers then at about 10pm running great even able to dowload at maximum speeds. I wonder if Telkom has devised a method of shaping so that when they are very busy customers can browse but not stream or download and when traffic eases back to normal speeds. Cunning devils. It would help if we could get SOME FEEDBACK.

Just checked the DoUncapped bundle prices on the Telkom website. The 2MB uncapped package is R521. So I am now paying more for my 1MB package than the 2MB.

Telkom really has great business practice.
1. Charge an extra R50 to all our customers.
2. Ignore enquiries.
3. Profit.

Just as things were looking up, they've gone down the hole again... Can't watch 720p YouTube and can't stream Medium quality Twitch. Everything in general seems to be doing poorly. Even the test account is only JUST buffering ahead to enable smooth playback. Trying out 1GB free Afrihost now. Will post results.

Hop 3 looks a little high.

EDIT: Exact same thing on Afrihost. Has to be a problem with one of the nodes in the route.

Looks like hop 2 is the main issue. Don't know why Afrihost is routing to an international CDN though.

Packet loss to hell. I guess all of this is a result of the floods in Gauteng.

Why such a big discrepancy?

In practical use, the local speedtest is a reflection of how the internet is behaving...

I say go with Mweb.
You'll never look back or forward or any direction for that matter as they'll throttle you into directionless mayhem.
Have fun!!

Its because of this i left them last year.

I find AfriHost & axxess performance is on a par with TI for my requirements - not into gaming or VOD.

If they did what they promised me I would have stayed with them.

TELKOM! What is this 165.165.214.213 address???
Is that were you're throttling us???

I am getting very bad internet browsing but it is inconsist. Really bad 5 minutes ago with webpages take ages to load.
Anyone experience the same?

Can't watch twitch tonight :( There is a live stream of a match I want to see

Think I need to also look at switching to another isp

Surprise, surprise, its me again complaining yet again about the same thing.

hahahaha.JPG

To think I need the ~29 GB client downloaded before Friday, lol.

Browsing has been so painful I've switched to Mobile data on my tablet, which is with Telkom Mobile and performs far better than this crap.

Twich on... not medium, not low, mobile mode is stuttering bad tonight and it's late :(

Edit: 4Mb line
