Also down for me.
Do u still get a discount for taking a do uncapped bundle?
I see I pay R79 more noe
I was offered a 25% discount on my line when I cancelled in February, which I accepted. They removed the bundle discount for me too. Not sure if that is correct or not.
ADSL line is deader than a Dodo this morning, i.e. non-existant. Router shows it is connected and authenticated. Tracetoute goes nowhere, ping the same ...![]()
Did try that, nothing, then 5 minutes ago it came back to life.
Miracles still happen
Would not even connect to free Afrihost 1Gig. Account.
Sounds like a DSLAM issue if that happens :/ Read up here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/608916-Synced-but-no-internet![]()
Sigh, cancelled ti 2 months ago, can confirm that my ti dsl account no longer connects and yet I'm still being billed for it... telkoms motto should be "Pay now pray later..."
Apologies Telkom.Same here, but I wasn't charged last month, but this month it is back again.
Made a hesitant return to Telkom after 10+ years of healthy and stable "Telkomlessness"
January 2014, installation - very impressed with entire affair, turnaround time, scheduling etc. Even opted for TI as ISP after reading good feedback on TI during Oct-Dec 2013 and Telkom salesperson did one helluva job convincing me TI is the way to go.
...and then it started...
After 3 months of DSLAM issues, line problems, rain problems, billing problems I finally had internet bliss 24/7, from about 16-31 March. It all seemed unthrottled, streaming video at min 720p and higher any time of day.
That said, even with streaming, 7 devices browsing, work use for VPN and minimal downloads - I am yet to breach the 45GB p/m mark so I believe I'm not breaching any AUPs here.
Since 1 April I firmly believe that TI is throttling media streaming (and even html downloads) to a near standstill from about 5pm-11pm. Not every day though...
Did the following during 5pm-11pm:
Tried FNB Connect account during this time on 7 April - no issues - all fine.
Tried Afrihost account during this time on 7 April - no issues - all fine.
TI - horribly slow - virtually unusable.
8 April:
Tried FNB Connect account during this time on 8 April - exactly as slow as TI - no difference - unusable.
Tried Afrihost account during this time on 8 April - exactly as slow as TI - no difference - unusable.
11pm - all returns to normal for all ISPs - 180ms international ping, 3.6mbps down and 0.43mbps up, unthrottled.
What is strange is that on MANY occasions I've seen Afrihost (capped) and FNB (capped) being remarkably slower than TI (uncapped) at various times of day.
Not sure what to make of this. Line seems fine.
I guess some nights exchange congestion and others TI being count of the day...
Hesitant to throw my toys and play Russian Roulette in the hope that Afrihost, FNB or any of the others will be any different/better.
Bottom line = HUGE frustration since there is no fixed pattern.
Telkom is not as ****ty as everyone says! Its ten flippin times worse, I can't even stream a youtube video on my phone!!! Never had a problem before only recently my service went down the ****hole, really pissed with Telkom and I am leaving as soon as I can. Any ISP better for 2mbps uncapped in jhb?
EDIT: Just switched to the Afrihost 1gb trial account and speeds are flying.
