Google services still hit and miss, but mostly miss in the evenings :( I can't live like this!

Mines been fine over the last few days, I was having endless issues with multiple sites when google died, but so far so good. Only problem I had was very slow line last night, but that corrected itself after an hour or so.

TI mail servers appeared to be fixed, regurgitated a ton of messages from yesterday around 08:00 this morning and now delivering normally.

+1

Had our copper stolen last week. Spent the weekend suffering from internetlessness...
Telkom did a good job restoring by SUN eve and updating as and when they can.
Still, why should this be the 'acceptable, status quo norm'..?

That said, I have not seen real world speeds doing my apparent International Speedtest.net results of 3,5Mbps down and 0,47Kbps up any justice.
I know I have mentioned this countless times before, but results shown by www.speedof.me (0,7-1,5Mbps DL, 0,47Kbps UL) is much closer to what I am experiencing. Similar across all three ISP's I test with.
Slowly losing faith in ADSL.

Neighbour is having BitCo testing for LOS this week - coverage map shows we should be OK.
At R899 p/m for non contended, uncapped 5Mbps DL, 1Mbps UL with latencies that make copper blush and with 99% uptime on top of a FUP that is more reasonable than TI's, the R120 premium on what I'm paying at present seems well worth-it.
Or am I missing something?

I am sorry sir/madam, but I am still a TI uncapped ADSL customer commenting on my existing experience and asking for opinions from TI uncapped user perspective.
I am well aware of the BitCo thread and am actively monitoring that too.
The question I asked above (IMO) is more relevant to TI users potentially experiencing the same as I am and considering the environment and options available.
This 'wrong thread' business being pulled by some self-proclaimed 'rulers/prophets' of threads is definitely not helping or in any way in the spirit of what a community like this is all about.
Thank you for your kind assistance and opinions, other than 'wrong thread' :)

Tell that to bwana (see first post):

Mod_note: These threads are clearly designed/intended for customers to provide feedback to their respective ISPs - not for disgruntled former customers to vent, not for other ISPs to promote their services, etc - and, one hopes, for the relevant ISP to respond.

Your issue is with your COPPER NETWORK - something that TelkomINTERNET has no control over. You should be posting this is a Telkom ADSL thread.

OK, if I had problems with cable theft and "real world" ADSL speeds I'd definitely consider moving to a WISP at an increased cost.

... better? :)

Mmm... Perhaps you misread my post or are making an assumption?

I clearly stated the following:

Not sure how a speedtest rendering normal results has anything to do with my "COPPER NETWORK". Kindly help to clarify - with the best intentions, that's why the forums exist, not so?
Reality is that the experience is not what it should be (and used to be) with a speedtest(.net) showing similar results others posting here. I am trying to understand this better.

Regarding you kindly pointing me towards the mod note in very large, bold font (btw - thanks for that, never noticed until now.

Allow me to comment:

(that's me, a customer, providing feedback about my experience)
not for disgruntled former customers to vent
(I'm not a former customer, neither am I sure how any of what I said can be regarded as 'venting'?)
not for other ISPs to promote their services, etc - and, one hopes, for the relevant ISP to respond.
(not sure I want to be in the ISP business in this country - way too much drama, pervasive unthankfulness and too many diva's ;) - I mean, it is after all a 'best effort' game this, isn't it?)

Splendid - thanks Mick! Now that is an opinion - exactly what I was asking for in the first place.
You ladies (gents?) are catching-on rapidly here ;)

Much obliged!

You've already given us a detail to show that your problem is copper related and not Telkom isp related

Similar across all three ISP's I test with.
Slowly losing faith in ADSL.

If it was just Telkom isp then you should see improved performance on the other isp accounts.

Oh and the mod note is in bold because thats how it was originally written, go to the first page to see for yourself.

You don't get off that easily :D

... I can't see where you have asked what "real world" speeds BitCo users are getting with www.speedof.me in the BitCo thread

Now you're talking! Good idea - I knew there was a reason I have barely posted 70 times over 7 years.
May I ask what you and others are getting on www.speedof.me on TI?
Just checked mine again after re-positioning my one repeater.
speedof.me: 2.44 up / 0,47 down
speedtest.net: 3.53 up / 0,43 down
(Both to London servers)

It varies dramatically throughout the day though.

TBH, I have never felt compelled to attempt any move of ISP or delivery medium.
I have been mostly content with Telkom and TI - I do a 'sanity check' ever so often with the Afrihost 1GB account and FNB Connect, the only noticeable difference was back in Feb/March/April this year after which TI sorted all out.

My earlier post about copper vs speeds etc. might also have been misunderstood - speed/Google services/time-of-day issues have been ongoing for a couple of weeks now. Copper was only last week Friday and resolved by Sunday.

Also checked PM'd my ticket with TelkomZA who confirmed no issues on exchange.

Better the devil you know ;) Then again, it's still a devil :P

Re-positioning repeaters  or are you now referring to bitco?
