Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Just checked and it works this side.
And here...

Thanks

Its definitely Telkom Isp though it just seems to be a problem for some of us. I have other sites timing out too (although speed test is now working) but 2nd hop is still an issue. It might all be related to the fix Ranger has said is happening.

So since last night both local and international is getting ping spikes. League of Legends getting spikes to 300ms when the normal is 210ms and Path of Exile is spiking to 500ms this morning but the normal used to be like 205ms.

I changed to a IS based account AND my capped Mweb account then the latency spikes are fixed. Stable 205ms in both games. Its something on Telkom Internet causing latency spikes on the durban IPC I think but its hard to pin point on a trace route as the the hops that shows increased latency is changing all the time.

I'm using a softcap account so it should not be the shaper or throttling taking place.

Anyone experiencing the same in Durban or surrounds?

Still battling. Most games are unplayable. Lucky I still have Vox and a couple of free accounts with other ISp's

Thanks for the reply. It seems to be getting worse and looks like its no longer ISP specific. First trace route is Afrihost then Telkom then Openweb. Looks like it might be exchange or line related. If it was the line I would see tons of errors in the stats in my router but I don't. It can't be exchange congestion because the Birdswood IMAX has been upgraded and is served by metro ethernet. I know this because I'm syncing @ 13Mbps so no way it will be congested unless only a part of the exchange can get congested

Still not sure why the first telkom hop is dead

After a few weeks of some pretty horrendous speeds, due to a Telkom network/cable problem in my area, my 4mb is humming along brilliantly again since last night. I have to say, TelkomZA really does give the right push to the right people to get these issues resolved :D

This past month I have tried to see at what level I will become a "power user" on my 2mb account. Well this morning after clocking up 60gigs plus my status bar turned yellow/orange although still around the middle of the bar. I havent always dowloaded during the 1am to 7am window but as I say this was done deliberately to get a good idea of what is acceptable to Telkom and what is not. Im actually quite content with 60 plus gig a month.

What is Telkom's AUP/limit on a 4Mbit uncapped package? (do Uncapped Advanced)

Also, I take it you get "Night surfer" full speed between 00:00 - 07:00 which doesn't affect your "rating" if you use that a lot?

Difficult to reply.

Here's my October stats. I do most of my downloads during Night Surfer (it does not affect your rating):
