Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Both? I want to know if I'll be able to play online during the day (so no nightsurfer) and download stuff in the night (with nightsurfer). I saw some people on this forum saying they get like 280gb with night surfer but that was from last year.

Do Gaming addon? @ R49 p/m Some info on that page is outdated but all the benefits are still available. It won't even count towards any of your "softcap" .

FYi - users are doing more than that 280GB this year ;).

gaming does not use that much bandwidth. I did 201GB in feb without getting softcapped, this month I'm on 180GB so far.
 
I doubt I'll go over 200gb so I guess the dogaming add on won't be necessary. Thanks!

There were some changes made earlier in the week with the intention of addressing any possible problems after load shedding.

The AAA team is actively monitoring the end-to-end status, I'll try and provide an update tomorrow at the latest.

Take the figures people tell you with a pinch of salt. The shaping is excessive.

So by the end of the day I'll be over 200GB I suspect. Torrents still coming down at a snot speed for a 2Mb/s line as per the bottom left of the screenshot.

Has your uncapped product changed? That is the correct question.

We had major problems in the Cape that persisted for many months. I have no confirmation that anything improved.

On a 2 Meg line I struggled to get 60Gb without being throttled despite mainly downloading overnight. This is well documented and the reason for many leaving the service, so let's not put our heads in the sand.

I'm in Cape Town but on 4 meg. Never really experienced the throttling but always had problems with gaming and streaming. The last few months things are much better. I can game most times with decent latency, YouTube defaults to 720p with no buffering and even torrents download during business hours.

Ok let me a bit harsher on Telkom. My media player struggles a bit with 720p but YouTube on my PS4 is HD. I've watched quite a few of those car karaoke videos with the guy from The Late Late Show and they were all HD. On my media player if I stream an HD episode I need to let it buffer for maybe 2 minutes. I mostly play Fifa 15 and have rarely had a red bar of latency mostly yellow bars for international and green bars for local. I've had the odd game with terrible lag but most times it's decent to very good. I usually leave torrents for after hours but sometimes Sickbeard misses an episode that I want to watch and then I've notice I get nice speeds trying to download it using a torrrent. My torrents always remained on zero unless I downloaded after 12 but, maybe Murphy's gonna bite me in the behind, they've actually started downloading recently.

Might be your Media player then?
Or is your media on wifi and PS4 wired - then your router?

Torrent traffic is heavily shaped during office hours thats pretty much a given
