Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Fine here in PE.

Did it die when you were already connected or did it refuse to authenticate when you switched on the router?

Telkom really playing up here in the Southern Cape getting extremely high pings varying between 480ms and 1380ms. Are they perhaps working on the network? All started to go downhill yesterday afternoon. Sad because all has been good for a number of weeks now.

My Meadowridge 021-712 connetion (Bergvliet exchange) played around so I requested a port reset and now my 2Mb line has increased from a constant 1.73 Mbps to 1.99 Mbps

Telkom cappped also dead, Google times out. Useless POS.
Jhb.
At 5 on the dot, someone switched off the router instead of the lights....

No internet in Midrand, but I can ping Google.com. This happen last month as well.

Seems the TI mail servers are giving trouble as well, just received a bunch of rejection messages in my gmail account.

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain telkomsa.net by mx2.telkomsa.net. [196.25.211.172].

Big transmission failure affecting half our circuits (meaning we lost half our IPC and transit) due to a fibre break in Pretoria. Openserve team is on-site splicing. We are doing whatever we can to mitigate until the splicing is completed.

There was some other impact as well due to some legacy environments (that are or will be migrated soon to solve the problem permanently). For example, from about 15h30 to 17h30 there was impact to DSL authentication. As a result I couldn't post an update here.

Thanks for the update.

Fibre splicing completwd by 20h40, my experience has improved since then.

Full restoration of capacity will be a bit later to avoid additional impact.

This appears to affect 25% of customers in the Northern region. Affected staff in our team have provided their details in order to allow the operations team to identify the cause.

All good this morning, will be interesting to see how much downloads ran last night.

Telkom Internet speeds still affected in Centurion/Eldoraigne area. Used to getting full 10Mbit from a locally hosted server, but speeds are currently erratic, in the range of 2Mbit-4Mbit. Only a problem when using Telkom Internet.

Afrihost runs at full speed. Is IPC/transmission from TI still an issue? (012-653-xxxx area).

What is the upload speed on a 8 MB Telkom line, the one for R399? Website only gives 4 MB and then 10 MB line sync speeds.

Lost ADSL on Saturday afternoon which is now the second Saturday in succession that we have experienced a problem. Immediately logged a fault and this afternoon it is clear that the technicians are endeavouring to repair whatever the fault is but it is hugely frustrating as we are back on then 5 minutes later off again and so on and so on.

Do you loose sync or do you lose connectivity?
