Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Yes a good network should be completely invisible .....
BUT ... where is the Telkom rep on this thread? Since Charl left we are now without a Telkom rep?????

Charl was not from the ISP side, you would find him in the ADSL sub forum, there are other people associated with the TelkomZA account besides Charl.

ranger helps out here in an unofficial capacity as you can see from scrolling through this thread.

Anyone else experiencing any secure certificate timeouts or slow, very slow connection speeds around Durban?

Arb.... still experiencing issues, appears that the DNS's keep changing in reliability. One hour Google DNS is okay then next OpenDNS is okay, then none are, then ownership data lost.... latency over 700ms.

I'm connected to the La Lucia ISAM and for the past week latency has been everywhere and timeouts occur regularly.
Right now for the past 30 minutes it seems to be okay.

I know this is uncapped thread but do anyone know if telkom will be extending the double your data promotion ?

Got 2 calls yesterday from Telkom - asking if I want to upgrade my 2meg. Line 2 a 4meg. line. Have uncapped account with them.

My reply both times was that it is pointless upgrading, before they sort out the random DNS issues, the massive lag spikes in the evenings, the atrocious pings overseas ( Guild Wars 2 ), inconsistent line speeds, during the afternoon and evenings. Early morning is fine - but starts deteriorating around 15:30 or so ...

Third time I just told them I was not available.

Doubling my line speed is not going to make these issues go away - so no point.

And your ISP is also Telkom?

Unrelated, but could you take a look at the Titracker? Firefox on my desktop, and chrome on my phone say that the connection is unsecure, and that the ssl has been configured incorrectly.

"The owner of secure.telkomsa.net has configured their web site improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this web site."

I would like to check my data usage, but yeah, not sure what's going on there.

Been terrible here for weeks, DNS issues, connection just disappears regularly for 2 mins or so then appears again, massive lag... yeah.

HOw much longer is this going to last? This the way internet is going to be till the end of school holidays? Spend some of the billions we give you Telkom and get some more capacity, this ADSL is terrible. We have more cables connecting us than South America but they have better speeds and reliability, insane.

Connection has been like this for 3 weeks plus, red line is basically a timeout. Connections are to local and international sites. Terrible.

Just checked and my issue is a Getflix one, they are busy with maintenance and their primary DNS is down.

They've been working on their SA DNS since last night, so if you're using that as your primary then you should change it.

I detect problems across various DNS's not just one unfortunately, something happening locally I think, somewhere central.
