Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Past week lately sucked. I't the morning when there shouldn't be latency but my connection is still ****ty.

Downloads are constantly getting disrupted.

Streaming services suck
 
Hi guys, considering TI since their new HomeUncapped packages look attractive.

Now with their FUP clearly stipulated, I'd like to know if they provide a place for you to monitor your current usage (like a client zone)?

They currently do, so I don't think that will change.

What do you mean free upgrades?

As per their call centre staff, if you have an uncapped package with them, you will be migrated to their new packages and get a free upgrade in speed. So mine will be 4Mbps to 10Mbps while still paying R 599. I asked them this 3 times to which they confirmed I'll remain paying R 599.

I don't believe they'll price 10Mbps at R599

my 20 Mbit VDSL line was upped to 22526 kbps on friday night and has stayed there ever since.

I think the prices above are for people who are moving to telkom from another ISP and the speed upgrade is for clients who already were with telkom.

Obviously it depends on whether the person I spoke to is correct about this. :( I phoned 10213 and inquired. The above is what they told me.
 
That is interleaved... Not an upgrade at all. I really dislike the extra latency caused by interleaved.

It's been interleaved since a year ago. Only change has been the line speed upgrade 3 days ago. I call that a win.
 
Anyone bumped up yet from 4 meg line to 10meg yet (aka account changed over from the old to the new "homeunlimited")? I'm looking at my telkom portal and still stuck on 4meg account and line here. Hoping this will hurry up.
 
I went into a Telkom store here and they didn't even know of the free upgrades happening to current customers. The whole store of employees hadn't heard of it. So it appears there's little communication (the irony) between the office and retail.

If you're an existing customer you'll have to wait until 31 August.
 
Thanks bwana, out of interest, how did you manage to find out? I'd caution people that if you go into or phone telkom asking about the upgrade, be careful as each time I have asked, they sprung into action and tried to upgrade me at my own cost. Yesterday I had to say afew times to just leave my account alone I'll wait. So just a warning, you don't want to pay for an upgrade if they upgrading you for free.
