Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Sadly after a very long time I am dropping Telkom Internet as my isp after degrading performance.

Really going to miss the extra mobile data but I'm now on a different fiber provider and ISP and I can actually stream and get full throughput with lower local and international latency compared to things while running on Openserve.
 
Have had more multiple disconnections, then when eventually being connected, login to portal, get told this:
"Connectivity features will not be available until you have used your internet account." Sometimes it appears sometimes it doesn't. Tried calling call center but forever rings and don't have an occupation that pays for hanging on a phone line. Arrrg. Will try again later but this is getting too often now Telkom... Also, anyone else lost LTE access on their mobile?
 
yeah, not on netflix but youtube is just... pff. I just take a break, read and try again later..... with some exercises to calm down.

Had to switch to my IS Account, I have a Business Uncapped account with Telkom, and it seems to be getting worse and worse with each night that passes.
 
I did testing and noticed LTE has been removed from my Telkom mobile SIM compared to my other SIMS with other providers. Don't know why Telkom removed LTE access but its gone. Only 4G and below now.

yep what he said same thing different name depending on your phone
 
Sorry, yeah it's saying 4G but used to have VoLTE, that has been removed from the menu. Same phone, different provider, has the VoLTE enabled. It used to be on the Telkom SIM as well but gone. Doing speed tests, used to get nearly 40-50meg speeds, now only 10meg speeds. But going by what you say, if 4G is LTE = If the phone said 4G-LTE before at the top and now only says 4G, I should still be getting the same speeds?
Just trying to understand because there has been a massive cut in speed since the VoLTE option was removed.

VoLTE is voice over LTE , not sure i that would affect speed, not even sure if Telkom supports it, maybe they were trialing it?
 
Again tonight, packet loss, slow speeds and timeouts. Switching to my MWEB account and all it peachy.
Last night I had zero issues on TI.
I am to lazy to post tests. Definitely not our exchange that is causing this.
In the day I never have problems.
IPC congestion maybe?
 
Hmm yeah perhaps. Wish they brought it back then hahaha. Yeah, meant to assist with voice but for some reason I noticed the massive drop. Same location etc. so a little arb. Oh well. Will just wait and see. Miss my 40-50meg wireless speed though. Felt like I left SA.
 
Has anyone been getting horrible speeds lately, though you have not hit the throttle cap?
I want to try check if its either my line or my telkom account which is being slow. Does anyone know of another ISP I can get a test account to check my speed?

Axxess, Afrihost and WebAfrica give 1gb free accounts which you can use to test.
 
Ran a speedtest using my old Afrihost login. Seems it might be my line. I wonder whats causing my 2Mbps line to drop so much.

Could be many things. Lift your phone off the hook and dial '0' to get rid of the dialtone and listen for noise/crackling for starters.
