Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Guys, who do I report this to? An OpenServe employee came a couple weeks back and stuck up a tacky black cable which I guess is fibre and took it out an exit point near our fence (to to clarify its not our fibre cable, its from an exit pole on the curb), wrapping it around our fence, up our tree branches and then to an electricity pole, linking it to another pole down the road and then to another entrance "pole" which was filled of cables which I guess is for connecting fibre etc. This wire has now been pulled to the ground and is a major hazard, not only to the electricity poles but also to our private fence and tree. Sure this is not allowed to be done? Who can I call/email? Oh also this employee didn't ask at all for permission to wrap this cable around the private fence and tree.

Big up to TelkomZA who sorted out ongoing problems encount with trying to get it sorted by calling 10210 and visiting the Kenilworth shop on multiple occasions without success.

A bit of free advice to Telkom, there are more and more alternatives available to your erstwhile monopoly, and they are offering better service. Your adsl is reliable and I have no complaints, but I have to call 10210 / 10213 every month to fix the same billing problem. In the case referred to above, it appears that the shop personnel simply did not know what they were doing.

All of this wasted a huge amount of my time together with fruitless visits to the shop, all of which could have been prevented with better troubleshooting processes, both to end users and to your personnel. I know it's not for me to tell you how to run your business, but an in depth look other companies' user interfaces and how others handle a problem, could well offer some hints.

Please accept this in spirit in which it is given.

Our upstream provider SAIX attempted to implement DNS mitigation for the second time this week. Both times were unsuccessful and would have affected Broadband users in the North. Due to the mitigation users would have experienced intermittent Internet access.

So today telkom employees came out to my mom's house to look at a noisy line - and for the second time coming out they reset the ADSL modem. And then some idiot from telkom calls me - acting all smug - like they did not just break my internet - and tells me there is no ISP details on the modem. So I ask him if the modem is in bridge mode - which it has to be since the it is connected to a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X which does PPPoE dialing. And the idiot tells me it is impossible for it to be in bridge mode and work.

So ... this begs the question ... is there one competent person working for telkom or is it just incompetence all the way up. Joke company. I hope you go bankrupt and every single person working there lose their jobs and then ends up being destitute - because you all deserve it.

jirre boet, coming here and flopping your little dick around like a brazzers japan meme, let me know the day you grow up and can throw something more than insults.

Have to say my experience regarding staff has been good.

Minor issues - store loaded wrong APN onto ids sim but sorted it by following online guides.
LTE installed by drilling a hole in my wall as if I will the desk there forever. But 3rd party service providers I suspect.

Overall staff great, some competent and some not. Just like in any other business.

Billing - never a problem. Internet stability about 80%. Poor but I believe partly intdrnational cables so guess out of their control.

Major issue - dishonesty and breach of contract ito LTE uncapped but getting 300GB pm for R529.61.

Overall some great deals/contracts eg freeme family.

What's the right APN? My IDS SIM is linked to my account but there's no data throughput.

Having some suspicious connectivity at the moment, happened last night too. Can only connect to some sites, others don't work, others load half way. I know Telkom is on strike, hopefully this isn't some sabotage like last time and its just bad connections. Durban area here. Currently struggling to get above 20kb/s. traceroutes come up with destination host unreachable for twitter and other sites.

update: Things seem working again.
