Telkom internet for employees

What do you guys reckon? Are the fat cats at Telkom paying the same for their ADSL accounts as the rest of us? Or are THEY using all the left over bandwidth themselves?

Sizwe is probably surfing on his 4MBS connection as we speak, costing him nada...
 
I know somebody who works for Telkom and they are subject to the same 3GB cap and line speed as the rest of us except that they pay less for it.

Thats assuming he has a computer or knows how to use it.
 
That's an interesting question ...... probably dirt cheap and none to little line rental as a telkom employee, then there is always the super discounted call rates that the employees receive. Me thinks this should have been investigated earlier to show that Telkomopoly can provide a cheap... sorry, affordable service.

Well, the poor henchmen that work for Telkom are probably paying the same crapload as we are. But what i am interested in are those fatcats. Volapi, Nxsana, Bastid1 - Bastid342, and all the rest...

I have a gut feeling that they have free fast internet, slaves (that get a salaray) that carry around umbrellas, fans and platters filled with grapes and a goverment official in every pocket.

Or i could be wrong, right?
 
The telkomonpoly employees that i have come across all got cheaper call rates ( and or subsidised ) and internet access ..... the free to cheap line rental is my assumption. so def not just the big boys that get these perks ....

If we could have gotten this info this would have made for some nifty ammo against TK .

Don't think employee perks should form part of the argument(s). Then you might as well go after every business out there subsidising their employees in their own specific retail areas.

Ahhh somebody with more than one braincell around here actually talking some sense.

When I used to work for a bank I paid no banking charges on my accounts and even got a generous loan rate not available to the general public.

It was a perk for working there ... get clue chaps.

There is a vast difference between perks afforded to you by a company that you work for and the theft of it.

If you really can't see the difference then you only have one braincell and not two ;).
 
tibby, what has race got to do with this now? are you perhaps black then? and what is the point? the target was Sizwe as the CEO, not Sizwe as a person. Or am i missing something?

I was merely asking a question regarding the priveleges of the GM's and CEO's of Telkom.

So employees get perks. Duh, well done. But are all the employees treated equal? Does Helpdesk Numbskull #527 get the same privileges as Sizwe?

Lots of top execs don't know much about PC's - which is why their secretaries do their mail for them..

If you had any inkling of intelligence you would know that.
 
$izwe has DSL512 at home. the ISDN tech told me this when he was repairing my line 2 months ago. Apparently, $izwe got capped and phoned Tech support to repair a "fault". When they arrived, they explained that he was capped and he now has more than one DSL account.. Lol!

AFAIK, Telkom employees get around R450 a month off their phonebill and DSL line rental is discounted by half. That's what the tech told me at least..

Last year someone came across a pricing page on the Telskom site which indicated that employees get R100 off line rental.. would be nice to find out what it is now..

Well this is not the first time I read about little remarks or snide insults regarding Sizwe competance as CEO of Telkom on this forum with a subtle racist slant to it.

I spoke to some technicians. They get **** all. The have a monthly 20 Rand bonus on their landline. Thats all.
 
So because he has ADSL he knows how to email? Thats nice. Its a shame he doesnt know anything about his companies own services. Maybe telkom's internal email is down...

Back to the point, is it possible to find out how much bandwidth Sizwe gobbles up each month? I guess its more than 3GB per month, but wait. Extensive studies by Telkom have shown that almost NOBODY goes over their cap. So if Sizwe goes over his cap, then why cant we all?

PS: Could anybody PM me to explain how i go about putting people on my ignore list? Certain elements are annoying...

OK, that would make me, as a telkom employee, extremely pissed! Surely all the profit Telkom makes can be filtered down to the employees as well as the share holders.

Hmmm, guess its time to phone Telkom and talk to a sales assistant. Maybe he/she could enlighten us...
 
Tech's get bugger all. Only Juniour Management and upwards get the R450 discount.
