Telkom Internet increases ADSL caps

Lol funny you should say that. I have 2 capped accounts, and a closer plan for free landline-to-landline calls for just R50 more than uncapped 4meg accounts and get:

20gb from telkom + 30gb local
11gb from webafrica + 100gb DL+ & freezone for steam downloads

And honestly, I can hear you say that you can download 300gb+ per month with uncapped, but honestly I can't see anyone keeping that up for long enough to warrant it. At least I get fast constant speed on different networks in case of downtime as well as super low pings all the time :) noob se voet :D
 
I got capped 30 minutes ago and need to send out an email via gmail!

So those 2 gigs extra Telkom are giving DOES help and would have helped me tonight. EISH.
Everyone here complains too much at times.it's sad.

One month from now,just say Telkom announce uncapped for R50 a month. People will still babble on and point out all the negatives.
And it's across all boards here in this country...I think we have become obsessed with being whiners

Yeah...well if the whiners don't open their mouths, you will never see your R50 uncapped (or that 2 gigs). Telkom look after Telkom and in order for Telkom to look after Telkom they have to listen and deliver every once in a while.

Uh yeah... my post most likely doesn't refer to you, since you don't use Telkom exclusively. I thought that would be kinda self evident! ;)

If only you'd experience the internet as in the 1st world countries WITHOUT THE RIDICULOUS CAPS we call the internet here in SA.Christ! is it too much to ask for progress that others have been experiencing for the past 10yrs or so as a rich internet experience?Try gaming,VOIP,sharing pictures and videos in HD,video calling/chat, cloud storing your important files,streaming video's(legit one's not your supposedly illegal torrents),updating software you legitimately bought, i could go on, and see how much the paltry 1,2,4GB's Telkom has thrown will get you.That's if in my opinion you using the internet the way it's being experience in other parts of the world and at fair and competitive prices(value for money).
 
I don't feel too bad when I compare our pricing with Telecom Namibia. Their ADSL still starts at 256K and goes up to a max of 3072K. That being said, all there fixed-line offerings (while more expensive) are Uncapped and have no mention of the dreaded "Fair Use Policy".

Also the 12/24/36-month contract options are off-putting to say the least! :sick:

Excuse my ignorance but how is your post relevant to the current discussion, I thought we're discussing one of our Local ISP's or am I missing something?

Edit : Also, I'm using an Afrihost account too, the RED special which gives you 17Gb + 1Gb Free for R219 per month which equates to R12.20/Gb, which would make my Telkom account great value for money as far as I'm concerned, as well as me being on Do Broadband 3, which provides an even further discount, so I'm happy, thanks Telkom.

I suppose some people find 1 or 5 gigs useful, just a damned shame those are still the entry level packages. At those prices entry level should be at least 10 gigs. Just my 2cw.
 
Lets really now bring out the tissues...VODACOM R429.00 = 2.5GB vodacom........ Is this Trick or Cheat?

This is awesome news, would like 10 gig extra local as well, but I know I might be pushing it.

Agreed, anyhow great offer:

But they need to offer the ability to switch b between local and international like other ISPs.
 
I bet most people complaining about too-little-too-late, are on uncapped anyway. So dont forget that the capped users are subsidising our uncapped, therefore it is great that telkom is doing a bit more to keep them happy and keeping uncapped sustainable! :-P

By the way, I've always had the top DSL offering, but still stuck on 4 mb/s. Was promised 10 mb/s by April 2011, but still crawling along via antique DSLAM. When?

Have you called recently? I remember last year they told us we didnt have 10mbps in grassy part, but we decided to call and check a couple months back and luckily they said we do but our area can only sync at 6, so we said fk yea 6 is great! better than the 3 we were getting before :P
