Telkom Internet local uncapped again? (quote from website)

Hi There,

Just saw this on the TelkomInternet page when I tried to signup:

Impact Once Capped:
# International access speeds is throttled
# No impact on local access speed <--- Unshaped/Uncapped local? :confused:
# Can access the Internet over a dialup connection

Copy&paste from the same page:

Should you reach your cap with this option the capping rules change slightly - you will be assigned a new IP range which will put you on a throttled international link and international service could be non-existent, since it depends on the amount of capped subscribers on this link and will therefore become increasingly slower as the month progresses. Once capped your local bandwidth will remain as is and you will still have full access to any local sites and email hosted on local servers. Please note that this does not apply to sites with international links.

This option is available with the Advanced and Premium packages.

Is this true? If so I am immediately cancelling my IS local account...

I believe that the signup page has always said that, but I may be wrong.
TelkomInternet currently only allow access to a small amount of sites.

I called TelkomIntenret many times before, according to the person that sounded the most updated and showed most understanding, they said nothing changed in capping, relaxed capping is still there, just when you reach the point where you wouldve been hardcapped, you can now just access local banking/e-mail.

The other reps denied Relaxed Capping ever existed, others simply said they dont know what is happening.

Once again Telkom does things without letting its customers really know whats happening.
 
yeah, the website has been saying that stuff about you being able to access local sites and everything. But the accounts don't allow you local access to say local torrents, News servers or local SaDC++.
 
Their site has been saying that for ages, i questioned them on it and they told me that they havent updated that part of the web site yet

go to telkominternet.co.za - click order an account, but go to the online order page. You will see it there!
 
indeed. it also says so below that on that screenshot, No Impact on Local Access
 
Wouldn't that be false advertising? And if you ordered an account after reading that and they didn't provide it wouldn't they be in breach of contract...

And what would you spend trying to do anything about it?
Telkom have a department full of lawyers and billions of Rands to burn - they could keep a case going for years.
