Telkom Internet Softcap Feedback

Not got much time on my hands, could someone please explain how I can get a discount on Do 3? That is 10Mbps + 50GB softcap.

Is it true that on this account you get UNCAPPED PSN downloads? As I only use internet for gaming through PSN.. this would be IDEAL for me if it is true..

I tried my utmost to get the "discount" and was continually denied.

The guy I spoke to just asked me ok so you never had the deal before and I just said no but I was lying and he said ok no problem and activated it for me no other questions or anything. Gave me a order number and yeah next invoice TOC 25% discount was on the invoice.

1 hour 5 minutes. Need to go out now. Sigh.

Yeah that is the only problem. Since they ended all the contractors contracts they are severely under staffed in all departments on 10210

You might want to phone on Saturday early morning when they open at 8am I think.

It does include the downloads and uploads too but sometimes there is bandwidth leaking through to the softcap. Not sure why or what specific downloads or data is leaking but if it happens to you you can always pm @ranger for help to trouble shoot.

Another nice thing is the fact that all your video recordings and photos that gets uploaded to twitter is also free.

The do gaming addon with uncapped gaming data and download is R49 once off via the top up option or if you call 10210 and go to sale and have them add it to the invoice as postpaid then R49 gets added to your monthly invoice. That is the best solution if you use it a lot and get the 25% discount which would offset that extra amount :)

+1. Made that resolution a while back but the old Siemens phones we have are still working after many years :(

You might have to find a way to stick the phone to your ear for round 2 :D
 
You Tube speeds have gone to ****

Is anyone else having problems streaming 1080p vids? I never used to have problems, now I've got to buffer every minute or so, for a minute. Annoying as ****. Speed test says I'm still getting 8.5Mbps down?!?!?

Don't even get me started on waiting 45 minutes to be told by the idiot at Telkom that I can't change my "Line + 10Mbps ADSL + 50GB" to a Do Premium package at R190 cheaper. Oh, then the idiot was going to get a supervisor to call - I had low hopes to start with, and yet I was still disappointed. Africa strikes again.
 
Yes they do. Just dial 10210 then option to cancel your line for Telkom Options center... If they ask if you ever had the discount just say no.

This means Do premium only costs R699 - R190 = R509 p/m Unbelievable low price :)

Can I get the 25% discount if I go to a Telkom shop and I sign up for a 12 month contract?
 
No, the discount is intended for people who want to cancel not sign up.

Correct. The department you speak to is called "retentions" - they are tasked with retaining customers who express a desire to leave by offering them sweeteners like the 25% line discount.
So you call them and tell them you want to leave, and they lure you back with an offer of a 25% line discount.
But here's the catch: If you have a 12 or 24 month contract, you're tied in to telkom for your line and telkomsa for your data anyway. So they won't give you the discount.

Can you provide a traceroute to the server that you end up streaming from (will give me the info you haven't provided to be able to see if there is a known issue that at affect you, namely which region you are in, where you are streaming from, and assuming it's international which international link your traffic is going over).

That's all back-end kind of stuff. I just click on the video. How can I tell what server? Besides, won't it be cached after I've watched it?

Hi all, I have a question with regard to the uncapped hours on the softcap packages. Is it uncapped from Friday night until Monday morning?
