Telkom Internet uncapped DSL prices reduced

Hi MickeyD,

Those stats you mentioned would that apply to telkom 4mb uncapped adsl as well?
600Gb "soft cap" for peak time between 7am and 12am and then " unlimited / unthrottled data " between 12am and 7am night time surfer ?

Any idea around the night time surfer scenario as well.....

If I didnt reboot my modem on or after 12am, and had an active session since say 11pm earlier and then scheduled downloads from 12am onwards to 7am, would that data then come off from my peak time usage period? How does that that work?

Ideally to be sure and play it safe would be better to automate a scheduled reboot of the modem at 12am everyday then started downloads at say 12:05am? What's your thoughts on this?

No. 4Mbps is lower...

Night surfer - no need to reboot, ever. The downloads scheduled from midnight will go to night surfer data and not from your "softcap".

If your system clock is right then there's no need to change the time of the downloads.

Hi MickeyD,

I've the last 2-3 weeks now, I have been scheduling my downloads from 00:00 - 07:00 overnight. As per above I am on a 4mb uncapped adsl account.

What I have noticed is that my downloads in surfer night time are getting shaped?? Initially when I started scheduling the downloads in the beggining part of the month it was fine and speeds were good and fairly consistent but now more recently in night surfer time periods its ridiculously slow? Last night in 7hrs I download under 1GB???

My question is, is night surfer time traffic shaped or unshaped? Although I am on an uncapped account, I noticed that as my usage tracker bar colour went from green to orange then overnight night surfer downloads would slow down?

I also noticed that when downloading through certain ports constantly during that period it was then shaped, after changing ports speed then picked up again........... I have now set it to use randomised ports upon startup, but still not quite hitting decent speeds as initailly during the month prior to going to the orange zone?? I have only hit about 118GB for the month so far?

Whats your thoughts on this?
