"Today the JSE announced the new members of its Socially Responsible Index (SRI). The idea is that the index is comprised of companies that are nicer than the norm, companies that care. But there are some seemingly anomalous inclusions, like Telkom. It’s very easy to bash Telkom – if they aren’t retrenching hundreds of people, they are charging bandwidth prices 400% higher than the international average. In fact, some have gone so far as to assert that Telkom’s pricing has shaved some significant bits off South Africa’s GDP growth rate. Surely that’s about as socially irresponsible as it gets."
Nice work Felicity!
