Telkom ISP connects but no internet

TelkomISP seem to be buggered. I can connect to them and get an IP but internet is dead. I can ping 8.8.8.8 but if I set it as my DNS on my router, the internet still doesn't work

I have exactly the same problem at the moment.
 
same here since around 16h30 this afternoon, been tearing my hair out thought it had something to do with my own network :|
Northcliff area, can ping fine and tracert and connect to skype and steam but no http browsing

Also on 10mb uncapped business account...
 
Checked Twitter and they know about the issue. Seems like most people are down.

Telkom Wholesale / Openserve failure affecting half our IPC and transit capacity in the Northern region (Gauteng etc.). Transmission restored about an hour ago, but some work remains to restore all capacity.
 
Update from Telkom spokesperson:

Asked for more information about the outage, Telkom said that its points of presence in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban are up.

However, some customers in the Northern Region of the country are experiencing intermittent or slow connectivity.

Engineers are working on identifying the problem and will resolve it as quickly as possible, Telkom said.
 
Telkom Internet network outage

ADSL subscribers on Telkom Internet have been hit by an outage on the service provider’s network.

It looks like a small subset of users couldn't reach anything, but the majority of users had slow response (due to Openserve IPC/transmission) failures. I was able to reach Facebook and Gmail etc. during the time (well at least from when I was home).
 
The call centre said it was "maintenance" when I phoned at 16:30 yesterday. It is the second time they have given me that explanation. Can I take it to mean that “maintenance” = “We don’t know”?
 
I am having crap speeds and very slow and intermittent DL and browsing to some sites. Cape Town Based
 
Strange this issue is only picked up now, i had this issue on Sunday already? Vox was giving issues so switched to my TI account, connected fine but couldn't browse most sites. It would connect every few tries but basically no internet. tracert etc worked perfectly fine. didnt hang around and just switched back to my slow VOX account.

Checked on the forum to see if there was similar issues, nothing until now. Very strange. I am in JHB north.
 
So this also hit the LTE guys as well. Affected me late last night but was fine this morning. Hopefully all issues have been resolved
