I reported a fault on my adsl line on the 4th of jan, which telkom took 5minutes to answer the phone. They repaired the problem with an hour and they phoned me back 2day at work and asked if all was good and then to my shock and horror they phoned me on my cell to confirm that the first call they made was correct and that the problem had actually been solved. I still hate them but am suprised at the time they took and effort to actually contact me. Has anyone else had this kind of service??

Yeah, that employee has not been through the "Brainwash, Don't give a f**k program" yet.

Same thing happend a year ago when our ISDN line didnt work, a guy from PE called to check if everything is OK, then the next day ANOTHER guy called, this time from Cape Town!

Unbelievable, that this is how it is suppose to be, and that we have to give Telkom credit when they do their jobs for a change.
If only this type of thing could happen more often - life would be so much easier.

Giving Telkom credit for the rare occasions that they get things right is like praising a rabid dog for not biting you.

Exactly what I meant. It’s funny that we actually have to praise these guys for doing what they’re supposed to do.
I would also like to praise them for allowing me to have this wonderful new technology called a phone - it's very nice of them to go out of their way just for me.:)

I have had follow up calls from telscum - a few times - in my early days of adsl and a problem modem - though sometimes I waited days for a technician to come around I would invariably get a follow-up call a few days later to check that the problem had been resolved.

I also get calls every month to remind me to pay my phone bill!

This is the service we should all receive being good telkom customers - I am paying them over a grand a month after all.

I was with TelkomInternet and now I am with SAOL . From experince TelkomInternet service is by far better then SAOL

We should see this more, especialy with Telkom Internet... Telkom is on a mission to capture a much of the internet market (Esp. ADSL) as possible.

You are right. The only answer that smaller ISP got is better and inovative service. As they said in the movies "This is not personal this is business ".
I tried Axxess and SAOL and they both were problematic in the service area.
The problem is that you can't change ISP every 3 month.
Reading [email protected] cynical answer to customers complains in anther thread shows how seriously SAOL are considering their customers.
The question is what next ??

Except in the movies that was generally said before capping someones ass, which is not business but murder. And just like murder, the tactics used by Telkom to "kill" the competition should be illegal.

Is giving a better service illegal ?????

Yes Telkom is using it's size to "kill" the competition which is not right.

BUT ON THE SERVICE LEVEL THIS IS A DIFFERENT STORY.

OK before we get into this are you saying Telkom is competing on the basis of better service ?

I wans't being facetious, I was simply explaining that we should see more of this.

I doubt that Telkom's service is better than many smaller ISP's... just the fact that there is any service whatsoever is a bl00di miracle.
