Hey....

About two months ago I had the same problem in Langenhovenpark in Bloemfontein... Had an average ping of roundabout 90ms...'

I spent about two days (and 5-6 hours) at my local TelkomDirect shop.
Luckily I had a VERY helpful woman that phoned everyone she can in order to try and help solve my issue (although she didn't even know what "ping" means)

Anyway, I finally got the numbers of both a Telkom "Specialist", and then , the number of a guy that finally solved my problem. He works over @ IPNet (Telkom's department that's got to do with how the routing gets done...)
I'll pm you his number, as long as you promise not to give it to anyone else (he asked me not to hand it out, coz it's his personal cell-nr)

BTW : My problem was that my data was routed through BELVILLE to the SGS servers in Centurion (and I'm in Bloem - lol)

pm sent...

OMG!! It's still broken! Really, I am going to hurt somebody at Telkom today. On Saturday I got 3 calls from 3 different people all wanting to close the ticket. The second guy said: "I must close it because it looks bad on my record if it isn't closed." My reply? Something along the lines of "If you close it I will hunt you down and inflict such pain on you, that you will wish for your death to come faster..." He didn't close the ticket!

The next moron just said "Oh, we'll send a technician." To which I replied, "Try and send one who knows how to turn on his notebook and synch his router. A bonus would be one who also knows the difference between ping and download speed!" I don't think she understood a word

Frag is correct

you need to get in contact with IPnet at SAIX (they are located at the NNOC in centurion)

i have no contact details at all - but i DO know they have dedicated people who work with DSLAMs , the routing of the network ect.

next time someone phones you - ASK them to please help you get in contact with these guys..

its either a routing problem or interleaving problem - because BOTH have effect on the entire dslam.

OK, I'm going to go the Telkom shop and see what I can accomplish, if anything.

Done, thank you.

I just got off the phone with some guy from the ADSL helpdesk. They have closed my fault because from their side the line looks fine and I can download at 50kbps. I read him your previous post about the DSLAMS, interleaving and routing and he said he doesn't know anything about that. He also said ping and download are the same and I don't know what I'm talking about. FFS when is somebody at Telkom going to train their phone monkeys in the basics?

Now I have to spend another 3 f$cking hours on hold to log another fault all because some chucklef$ck phone monkey doesn't know the difference between PING and DOWNLOAD speed.

At this point leaving the country seems the best option. I'm sure I can emigrate and get a working phone line in any other country in less time than it takes Telkom to understand and fix a problem!

[OUPA]MrNutz thank you for everything you've done to get this resolved. It would appear that my ping is down to 56-60 today. I didn't bother to test it this morning after last night's disappointment. I just checked now and MAN I COULD KISS YOU!!:D

So it's official: I owe you some beer...!

Thank you thank you thank you:D:D

:D Yeah, it was good to be back online last night. Pity Punkbuster had a brainfart and kept kicking me. Anyway, I've filed a support ticket with EB and it seems it is linked to my new drivers for my ZBoard so...now it's time for a new keyboard :o

Thanks MrNutz, sorry I could stay on long enough to chat with you...perhaps tonight, hey?

@ PCTech - what was the problem in the end? Was it interleaving, or something else?

Glad to hear you've been sorted out.

Libs

I'm still not really sure. I think it might have been a combination of routing and interleaving. MrNutz could probably give you a better answer. I just know that everybody on the Wavecrest exchange is now sorted and we can get back to important things like gaming :D

the magical dust had been thrown at saix's IPnet dept :)

as far as i can make it it had not been interleaving

but a SERIOUS error in the routing.
