Good Day All.

I would like to find out the correct procedure to get Telkom to upgrade the line speed of my area or install a Msan box.

Could someone please point me in the right direction?

I currently have an 8mbps line  and recently tried to upgrade to 10mbps only to find out later that i am too far away from the exchange :cry::cry:.

However a friend of mine who stays about 500m to 800m away from my house has a 10mbps line.

I have been told by one of of my ISP's agents that i could get telkom to install something that could "boost" the signal.

Any help would be appreciative.

TIA

Unfortunately your options are extremely limited.

If your area is not on their current plans you will need to get a large group of residents in the area to join you in completing their "interest register" for better broadband services. --- http://www.openserve.co.za/interest-register/

From past experience I can advise you to not waste your time.

come to think about it, not anymore... tooo much missions. would be easier just moving house :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh:

If you refer back to this thread you started, check to see if your modem/router is syncing at 10Mbps or over, due to this Telkom ASSIA story :

It should be - from what I've read on the forum - if you have an 8Mbps line & haven't asked Telkom to intervene, by switching you from Interleaved to Fast Path. Access your modem/router via 192.168.1.1 or similar (depending on the make/model), in a web browser, and check your actual upload/download stats.

^^ Been trying for the last 6 odd years just to get 10mbps ADSL.

I've given up on Telkom. After I moved, I tried to move my ADSL line. After too many lies, I just cancelled everything.

Now I'm going to get fibre and frack Telkom.
