Does anybody know how to connect one's cell phone to the Telkom LIT so that one can obtain data such as subtitles off the cellphone and use them on the LIT when using it as a media player?

Can't you get the result you want by casting video from your cell phone to the LIT box?

Because fibre is not available here, I am using Rain uncapped data for my LTE router which means I don't have data between 6pm and 11pm. I am downloading subtitles using my cell phone. I want to copy the subtitle file from my phone to the LIT so I can watch movies downloaded previously using Kodi as a media player on my LIT (very complicated)

Enable tethering on your phone via WiFi, connect lit box, then download from within Kodi.

You could try emailing the file as an attachment - open Puffin browser or suchlike on the LIT box and see if you can use ES File Explorer or another file manager to get the file off your email

Or can you use Bluetooth to transfer the file?

Send Files to TV app on both the Lit and Android device (Play Store).

From the sending device, use the share button and select Send Files to TV. Can't get any easier.

Edit: No configuration needed.
Edit2: the app must be open on receiving device

Send Files to TV

- Make sure both the phone and Lit are on the same wifi/network
- Install it on the Lit and your phone. Open it on the Lit and leave it onscreen/open. Start the app once on your phone and then exit
- Go to a filemanager (or any app with the share option) on your phone. Select the file/s you want send, then choose the share button/option
- Choose Send file to TV from the list of apps
- Choose the Lit from the available devices screen

Done.

Thanks for the above however, LIT doesn't seem to see the cell phones. I tried my Galaxy s50 and a Huawei

All devices connected to the same router (Wifi/Lan).

Phone is sending to the Lit (I did not try sending from Lit to phone). On the Lit, is the app open onscreen and awaiting?

The Lit don't have to see the phone. When Send files to TV is open a server is running ready to receive files.

On the phone select file, share and the choose Send file to TV. Then select the Lit.
