Ok, so i got capped a couple of days ago and using my local from telkom now... What i wanna know.... When you look on the usage/topup site, they say you will be charged R22.55 or something for every gig of your allocated local bandwidth since its uncapped.

How much is the allocated bandwidth? 1gb? Please help me out here, cause im not sure if im gonna download like a maniac now of newshost and then i get a leke bill the end of the month..

Look, I went over by a bit and got charged, R1700.
But last month, I went over... say... 10gig and I haven't received a bill yet.
I think they only nail the heavy abusers... so keep it low and you should be fine.

Average_joe, Try to keep your local usage under 10GB-for-each-1GB-of-international.

eg. You have the 1GB account so you need to keep you local usage under 10GB.
2GB must stay under 20GB
etc
etc

Ah, ok ld13... I see what you mean, read about that somewhere... Im on a 3Gb account, so i guess i can use 30Gb local then for no charge..

Yes, you can use 30GB of local after being capped on your 3GB account without being charged - for now.

If you cannot use that much bandwidth in a month, you know who to PM your details to ;)
(/me is a poor student that have to make do with a mere 10GB of local :o)

Ok, great stuff! Thanks a mill for the info :)

LoL, i will definitely be able to use that ;) Another question though... Will route sentry work on my 3Gb telkom account to split my traffic? Not sure, because telkom says you get local after you're capped

No, you only have one ADSL username and password. You get assigned a local-only IP after your international is capped. Route-sentry only lets you connect two separate accounts at the same time.

With Telkom, you have to use up your blended (international) bandwidth first.

And, yes... you do, in fact, get 10GB free local for each 1GB international. Don't use more than that... Several members here learned the hard way.

Alright, thanks guys... This clears a lot up for me, and now i can feel assured when downloading :D Thanks!

thanks too guys, i was also wondering if that promotion of their's was still on.. heh, i even wanted to phone them.:) i have 2 telkom accounts, the 1gigs been capped and there's still about 700meg to go on the 2gig, so i reckon i should look into splitting the traffic with route-sentry, quite tedious swapping the ac****s everytime atm..it will work with my mega105wr right?
all that said, more than 28gig is quite an amount to move around a month.
