I have a 2Gb telkom account and get 20 Gb local with it. If i top up with 1Gb, does that give me an additional 10Gb?
My usage stats email says this:

Blended Usage
Uploaded - 99MB or [0.09GB]
Downloaded - 3.74GB
Combined Total - 3.84GB
Percentage used - 90.66%
Status - Not Capped

Local Usage
Uploaded - 482MB or [0.47GB]
Downloaded - 26.66GB
Combined Total - 27.13GB
Local Bandwidth Allocated - 20.00GB

That makes no sense - it is saying I have 4Gb blended and 20Gb local... eish... anyone know?

Telkom has a blended usage system.... its sort of soft capping..

For your 2Gb account, u will download between 3 and 4GB everymonth for your international... your local only kicks in after you capped on international

If u purchase a topup of 1GB, you will get the additional 10GB local.

how do you know that you recieved the 10gigs local? the last time i checked telkom doesn't cap you on local, so you could be paying for that 10gigs you used...

Well I have purchased an extra 1Gb local and those stats above are after that purchase. I bought it to avoid the extra fees so hopefully I get an additional 10Gb with my topup - but I have no clue what Telkom are going to do at the end of the month. They suck bigtime. I will let you all know what the bill looks like at the end of the month. Problem is that I exceeded my 20Gb before I topped up... eish who knows what they will do.

NO!!!!

Dont do this!

Get a whole new account!

I did this...

I bought 1GB top ups on my 3GB account, over the days, it was like 5 of them, so I did 60GB local and got charged a huge amount for local.

How to avoid this problem?

BUY NEW ACCOUNTS! (which means you get a new username and password etc) and then CONFIRM with the lady that you get 10GB local.

it clearly says on telkoms website you will not recieve additional local bandwidth if you topup your account, cant seem to find it now though.

And yes, before anyone says it, I am always the darmn guy who Telkom charges for 'over' usage on local.

:D
Life sucks when life is owned by Telkom

The local cap isn't free when buying top-ups, as most of you should know. It's only available with new accounts and the monthly contract.
