Hi There,

I need some insight on Telkom LTE.

I currently have a Telkom 4meg ADSL Line at home that cant be upgraded to a faster line due to the exchange. So I have been considering going for Telkom's Lte Braodband option.

My concern is that I use Unotelly to stream Netflix, Hulu+ and would also like to add HBO Go.

I have read through a few threads and I'm currently not sure whether the Telkom LTE is the right solution, as I see that you cannot change your DNS settings to the Unotelly settings on the Huawei B593 router!

How does one get around this, is there an alternative solution?

I have also read that you can put your ADSL router in between but I dont fully understand this, and wont the ADSL router affect the speed?

I'm desperate for faster internet as I wish to make streaming TV my main option as DSTV is a rip off!

Thanks Zuv

What you read about 'ADSL' router is in fact any classic router with one Ethernet WAN port. Connect your Huawei 'gateway' device to this WAN port and use DMZ feature on Huawei to transfer Internet traffic.

Thanks sajunky, so my Bilkin N150 will be the primary wifi port for my devices in the house and my download would be restricted by the capability of the Bilkin N150?

Does this method work without any complication and are you still able to connect devices directly to the Huawei router?

Yes, your connectivity options will be fully dependent on the Bilkin's capabilities.

As for your last question. Yes, you can still connect simultaneously other devices to the Huawei device by cable or WiFi, but keep in mind that these are two different LAN networks. By default devices on the Huawei LAN segment will not be able to communicate with devices on the Bilkin's LAN. Typical user mistake would be cross-wiring LAN ports between two routers in the attempt to rectify connectivity problem. It would create conflicts, difficult to diagnose.

It might be possible to create static route entries on both routers, but results will depend on implementation of DMZ option on the Huawei device. In my opinion it is not clearly predictable, it might even interfere with default gateway settings (Internet access). Remember that there is no Huawei official guide how to use DMZ, so KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) as long you can. :)
