If anyone has one of these Telkom Mega 105WR Routers lying around, I've created a guide on how to flash the Routertech.org firmware onto it. The router is far more stable with this firmware, in addition to adding a lot more features.

:D

A guide on how to flash Routertech.org firmware to the Telkom Mega 105WR ADSL Combo Router

This took me a few hours to figure out, and might save you a lot of time.

1. flash this exact firmware: routertech-ar7wrd-1350A-pspboot-firmware-4ports-20120130.zip - available here
2. give it 7 minutes or so to stabilise.
3. Login to router (read the documentation included in zip for username/pass/gateway ip)
4. go to System > RT Configuration
5. set led file to bewan700g, and DSP Driver to dsp71A.
6. Save changes, reboot.

I've tested and have had 24hrs uptime, all working.

Also, please add the Telkom Mega 105WR to the list of routers under that firmware file.

Note: a later version of the firmware may exist depending on the how up to date the RUC is.
The date-stamp may be superseded, but the rest of the filename should be the same.
According to your current MTD values, you should be able to upgrade using a single firmware image.

This is done at your own risk.

When clicking on : http://www.routertech.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5954 it says " The requested topic doesn't exist".

Anyhow, I have a Microcom router that looks EXACTLY (http://interlink-static2.tsbohemia....-ready-deskporte-router-wifi-11g_ien46514.jpg) and has the same interface (http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Microcom/AD-2706/AD-27062.jpg) like the 105WR has. I wonder if I should take the risk and see if I can upgrade its firmware as well. Mmmm decisions, decisions. :D

PS: Did you make use of the firmware upgrade option via the router's interface to upgrade the firmware ?

The 1700's asked for their router back.
lol, ye it is an old clunker, but the hardware isn't as bad as the atrocious firmware that came with it. Besides nearly every home with a D-link, TPlink, Netgear, Linksys or Intellinet router uses some sort of MIPS based SoC, all similar to this clunker.

Using it as a third access point, and by the rate our internet speed is going in SA, it won't ever exceed the WiFi G standard ;)

Give it a go. Read the instructions on the routertech documentation. There's a serial over Ethernet application you use to upgrade with initially, done with a crossover Ethernet cable from your network card on a PC.

I flashed my Mega 105 ages ago, but have never bothered to actually make much use of the router after that - mainly due to 802.11g being too much of a bottleneck now. But yeah, the RouterTech firmware seemed a hell of a lot better than the firmware Telkom tossed onto those Mega's. It got to the point where I would have to do a reboot every week on the Mega, without fail.

This thread allowed me to make 2 x Mega 105WR's useful again.

Seems like OP is banned, but I would like to thank you Sir/Madam
