Rarely do mobile speed tests anymore with the luxury of fibre. Coincidentally, my fibre is a fraction of that speed at 20Mbps. :)

Well I am in PE and since telkom started rolling out FLLA's my LTE has gone to less than 5M/s uploads are faster

Something seriously wrong here.

Anyone else experiencing super slow browsing / download speeds?

Only since this afternoon though.
 
It seems to have fixed itself, I have not made any changes on my end.

Just spent R1700 on an LTE antenna for our B315. Absolutely amazing speeds .... :cautious::cautious::cautious:

Speeds have been down recently even during the night, so definitely wasn't expecting these results :

Most I've ever got before was around 118Mbps, and only on one occasion.

This is on my 450GB/month Telkom SIM in my original B525 router (have 2 of them).
Only thing I changed was from "4G only" (which periodically cuts out) back to "Auto".
No antennae, apart from the internal ones in use.

Long may it continue ...
 
Very, very slow. Specially during the week. Usually get around 0.3 to 0.6 Mbps

Telkom has made some network adjustments a while ago that Huawei routers seem to be handling well. before leaving it forced on 2300MHz would mean slow upload speeds. If your rourter from Telkom specifically a Huawei then leaving it on auto will see it run 4G+ on 2300MHz and drop to 1800MHz for upload speeds.

It's not dual channel so there is a switch that happens. So if you download on 2300MHz and want to upload at the same time upload speeds will be sub 10Mbps. Speedtests will show increased uplaod speeds like you see in your tests.

It's good to know about the differences.

I don't even mind lower speeds, which I seem to get after midnight until about 4 - 5am, after which things seem to speed up again, sometimes drastically until 7am (on that night-time SIM). I jjust hope that latency doesn't go above 30, as it's usually around 25 to 30 for me these days.
 
I would honestly sell someone for ~5Mbps right now. With the switching change @cavedog mentioned, would upgrading from the B315 to a better LTE router make any difference?

That I couldn't answer definitively, but it might be an expensive experiment if it doesn't work (as for eg., the B525 Telkom sell for around R2k).

Have you tried testing SIMs from the other networks ?
MTN might be an option for you, via Afrihost, as you can get a fair bit of data at relatively reasonable prices.

That's what I intend trying from next month, as I tested an MTN SIM about 2 months ago, and got good enough speeds (not as much as I get with Telkom) and similar latency (mid 20's). Just read through some potential problems in that sub-forum. If it doesn't work for me, will go back to Telkom but at least I'll have tried.

Hopefully you aren't in a Telkom contract currently, so can easily cancel and move to a more suitable network after some testing ?
 
Yeah, that's my plan this month as well. Working 100% remotely now so need a stable connection or it's way too frustrating. May end up getting the 525 anyway and running load balancing or failover against the Afrihost fixed LTE / vice versa

Cell-C works fine here, MTN seems not bad.
