Hi All.

I'm planning on getting a new Samsung S5 from Telkom, but will be using it mostly on Vodacom's network.
I know the phone is not network locked, but are the "Vodacom Phones" in anyway optimized for their network?

Thanks!!!

Not really. I gave a Vodafone Samsung phone, don't think I'm losing out, I use it on TM.

Only change is the bloat ware, both containing an obscene amount from Samsung and having the cellphone provider add more.

Thanks all!

@Chrome how do you find the Telkom network? When I last used it about a year ago, it was shocking!!!calls dropping poor call quality etc?

Most people here say that the TM network is fantastic.

Ok, so may be worthwhile leaving Vodacom completely , and just using TM?

Am I correct in saying that TM give the 3G version of the S5 and Vodacom the LTE version?

I thought this was the case afaik?

Thanks all!

Awesome data wise where I am (Midrand). I have a 42Mbps MiFi, and I get 30Mbps+ without trying hard, uploads around 3.5Mbps.

GSM wise can't comment further.

Ya, I know the Data is great - Wondering about voice

I am in the same boat as OP, sick and tired of the VC network but I still love my Moto G very much so I couldn't justify the upgrade :D

I also don't want to get just the SIM and use my own device; in a years' time I would want to upgrade then I would have to buy prepaid again:erm:
