Telkom, MultiChoice test video-on-demand

Headline should read, 'Multichoice sells soul to the devil'.

Seriously speaking, do these two companies believe that this venture will be successful? Based on the current prices we pay for technologies such as ADSL in SA?

Please, someone out there, tell me this venture is some kind of a joke. They are not really going ahead with this, are they?

Monopolies scratching each others backs, not competition.

Ha!

They are on the same team... or haven't you had to fork out R400+ for some extra TV yet? And get 90% unwanted channels... including MNET!

Touche :)

What would make me get Multichoice content via cable? Surely Telkom should rathe be competing with Multichouce ... oh, hang on - competition is not a word applicable to South Africa in the telecoms sector ...

One starts to get a sneaky suspicion of how the pricing will be. Telkom will provide a 2meg line as long as you subscribe to Multichoice, something like that.

Speaking of which, has anyone else seen the Telkodemonopolies advert on heMpNET about a whole DSTV channel dedicated to advertising Telkodemonopolies?

Am away at the mo in a hotel, but there is a Telkom AD channel on DSTV at the moment, the whole 'broadband adsl download life cr@p'.
I went and checked it out on the weekend. You get the picture with the woman with short blonde hair, then it prompts you to press 'ok' to continue, then it reloads the same pic and prompts you to press ok again????, endless cycle, like Telkoms help lines hahaha, had to laugh, maybe they fixed it now, think it was channel 110 (might be wrong though).

So then all IPTV subscribers would be abusing the service if they have the audacity to watch tv all day long. I can't wait 4 that!

 My thoughts exactly.

How the hell are Telkom going to justify cheaper bandwidth for their IPTV clients
when people who really need ADSL end up paying more for bandwidth?

Because they NEED ADSL so Telkom charges them more!

The iptv needs at least 4MBbps, so how is that for abuse! 4MB with no cap!

What a bunch of idiots at Telkom.

What a bunch of liers!!!
