hellopeter.com

I notice with much interest on www.hellopeter.com when i visited a short while ago:

Telkom is NUMBER 1 for companies who don't respond to customer comments. No real surprises there.

The interesting thing is that their child company Vodacom is NUMBER 2 for companies who do respond. Maybe you guys at Telkom should take some note of how your little mobile subsidiary runs things....

Clearly - widsom does not come with age in Telkoms case

Telkom, incidently, told their shareholders and the South African press at their AGM a few weeks ago that they have a relationship with hellopeter. I emailed hellopeter, who of course confirmed that Telkom was talking k4k.

I met Peter Cheales years back about the hellopeter.com website, before it was built.

It was a lead through datapro who really had a long run around with Peter and tried to pass it our way (the company I was with at the time)

Anyway, we went to meet Peter and I can honestly say he's a good bloke.

Lives in a nice pad - hmm, somewhere in one of the Park-blah areas - parkhurst, parkmead - can't really remember.

Has a few siamese cats and likes his wine. He gave us the time of day, however, it was a bit out of our league back then.

Apparently Datapro completed their part of the project and I've no idea who runs the show now - all I know is that is was a painful setup period that has eventually worked out.

I just came across a great website called hallopeter.com (you might have heard about it).
It gives anyone the ability to complain or compliment the service you receive from a company or supplier. The no. 1 "most complaints about" company on their front page is logically Telkom. How about everybody here go and flood the complain section with Telkom stories. I know I have some horror stories to tell.

Agreed

Lets do this guys.... just go through your recent posts and cut and paste some to the page... You're bound to have a few stories to add.

hellopeter.com sucks. Companies have to pay to reply - even if it's only to correct a bogus complaint. Companies are thus blackmailed into subscribing. Some companies thus refuse to reply to clients (subscribe) as they see it as such.

He should rather make his money out of advertising and allow the companies to reply free of charge (if he rally has the customers interests at heart.)

So what if they have to pay - he's providing companies with a valuable service. If they're too cheap to pay a little for providing better customer service then they deserve a bad rep.

Spot on ant1b0dy.

apparently, according to insiders, that hellopeter site MAKES at least R10 000 a month from advertisers and clickthroughs..

Not bad! So at least he has the money to pay the exhorbitant prices for hosting and bandwidth! Doubt if he makes a profit out of it though!

That may be, but rpm mentioned how much the latest local hosting bill for MyADSL is, it is a lot more than R10K...

WTF?

Sorry, I can't believe that.

Oh well, tilskim at work again. Sorry, forgot the 'local' bit. I run a few servers in the US on GIG-E backbones and for that kind of bandwidth (including fully managed hosting) my clients pay R1999.

telskim is killing the Internet in South Africa.
