Thanks great to be here. I contacted them yesterday, gave them my order number and still they say a techie will call me with an installation date after there are ports available. Completion of their "project" is 29 May.:cry:

Believe me, phone every day. Ask the agent to check and not just read what is on their screen in front of them.

Bad news yet again....
Called them today and the new "completion" date for their upgrade of infrastructure has now been changed from 29 MAY to 6 JUNE!!! WTF!!!

Haha, been there had that, I was without ADSL for 6 months because of a lack of ports. What you could also look at is a wimax connection, latency the same as ADSL, 512k Speed at a cost less than what you would pay for the adsl line and line rental. They usually only offer Wimax where they are unable to provide a fixed line connection - Your case would probably be considered as unable to provide.

I tried to get wimax myself, but my signal was just too low for them to consider installing. They come out, climb on your roof, find a signal and then tell you its too low - what a let down! I was a good distance from the tower, so a good signal was already a slim possibility. You may be luckier wherever you are.

Wish I could organise WiMax but I live in Lichtenburg and you struggle to get Vodacom reception here LOL...
 
You might be surprised hey... You don't need cell towers to get Wimax, this comes from the Telkom Exchanges themselves - When they tested at my place, they picked up a tower about 5Km's away with no line of sight, and then another tower probably about 50km's away also with no line of sight. Although they found the signal, it was not strong enough, but your case might be different?

Looks like there is a tower in Mafikeng, not sure how far you are from there. Might be worth checking - The come out and test for mahala...

A bit too far!! I spent some time in Zeerust in the 80's... play rugby and cricket against Lichtenburg a few times!! I'm sure there are ports and he is being fed BS. Will tap into connections there!
 
Called Telkom two times today. Both consultants told me the same thing 6th JUNE...
 
I'm also waiting for Telkom. My line is installed but they say there is a problem with the exchange in my area so they have to fix it or whatever before I can get ADSL. Sucks. :cry:
 
I called telkom again today:

"They are busy upgrading your exchange because there is problem with available ports, they should be finished by 26th June 2010"

WTF!!!!

Everytime I call they move the date.

LOOKS LIKE I'll BE STUCK WITH 3G/HSDPA FOREVER....FFS!!!

Recieved a call today out of the blue.

MY ADSL IS ACTIVE YEAH!!!!
