Telkom 'not for sale'

What a pity! No-one will cry over the demise of Telkom as we know it.

Vodafone recently upped its stake in Vodacom to 50%, equalling the stake held by Telkom in the local mobile services provider.

If vodafone owns 50% vodacom and telscums owns also 50, and vodaphone owns like 50% of telkom..... what does then mean.....

I think it would mean that they own 50% of Telkom and 75% of Vodacom in effect. Not bad at all. :D

Somehow, for some reason I dont think the competition board can allow this, if it happens, to go through.
Just too much of a 'Goliath' situation, putting Vodafone in a distinct market position.

And Telkom is not?

of course, I do not dispute that, but it can be worse!!
oh, there are loads bigger beasts than Telkom....
Do not forget, Vodafone is international, imagine them gobbling up Telkom...
eish!
Not

I don't see that as a bad thing. Yes there are bigger but not worse. Perhaps with Vodafone owning them the gov will start to step up and enforce the regulation that should have been enforced ages ago. Imagine if Telkom was entirely state owned.
