Telkom online Fault Reporting

Used the service. Didnt get a response for 2 days, then i get an sms stating the fault was logged and an email. not even a week later and the techie was here(yesterday). Diverted my whole line to underground cables cause i asked him. Very friendly.

I've had a pleasant experience actually :) Long story... sorry :D

I called their 10212 number from my cell first because my telephone line was dead (cables stolen) and was connected within seconds. I got my reference number and the following day called back and again, within a few seconds my call was answered.
This time they told me to call the ADSL number 0800 375 375 which also, within seconds was answered. They told me of the cable theft and we left it at that.
A few days later I used the online fault reporting page mentioned in this thread. The next day I received an email confirming the cable theft and giving me an estimated fixed date of the 27th of this month! I used that page again and complained at having to wait that long and also suggesting I should receive a credit. Well my line was fixed on the 11th of this month, exactly a week since it was down. Telkom then started calling me back (2 calls) asking if everything is up and running and to inform me both my line rental and adsl will be credited from the time it was down to the time the first call was made from my phone which happened to be the 16th. By that time I had downloaded 4GB already :p
So yeah, it works and I'll continue to use it because you at least get the confirmation email and they do call you back too.

I've got the same problem. Which online fault report did you use, and which department did you contact through it? (what did you list as the cause for fault?). I've tried both online forms and got no response yet from either

i must say ive logged maybe 10 faults using the online service, not one of them came back with a phonecall, email, or reply... :)

Hey fragtion, I remember your fault from http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=117652

sorry to hear you've still got a prob. Mine was resolved within a week. If I recall I used 'line completely dead' as the cause for fault. I tried accessing telkom.co.za now to make sure of my facts and got the following:

Telkom Upgrade In Progress
Site currently unavailable due to upgrade.
Please try again soon.

good luck

Telkom ada ADSL ada Phone line

Hi

Thought the ada's will draw attention, which I don't get from Telkom.

16 August, phone line dies, ADSL still ok. 18 August, report faulty phone line. 19 August ADSL dead, my number is now completely different = crossed line (011) 433 xxxx is now (011) 680 xxxx. 20 August another funny number connected to my house, ADSL still dead. 21 August = everything is now dead !!!!!!

Well, MANY calls to 10212 later, MANY fault reports via the Telkom web site : today is 30 August = everything still dead, no calls, no SMS's, no e-mails !!!

Sorreee Sih, Telkom apohlohgiseees for dee eenconveeneeeince ! Weeee ah weking on de prohblim !

Any other ideas from aynone ? Who in Telkom can I call directly to resolve this ? I am climbing the walls ! Neotel not active in our suburb yet, else......

All

I have just submitted a fault, I'll report the outcome here.

Fingers Crossed ....
Hi Im experiencing problems with one of my laptops, it can't log on the internet although its status says its connected, there's no static address or proxy settings what could be wrong?

Submitted a fault online, got confirmation that they were investigated but 2 weeks later, nothing, not even a phone call.

I guess that makes this fault reporting system another fail.

This on-line fault reporting works like a charm. As long as your internet connection is working use it, beats hanging on the phone line for ages hands down, and Telkom does respond to it, not just with SMS's but also technicians turning up.

I also tried to use Telkom's website to report a fault, guess what?

We are experiencing a Technical error and are unable to process your request. Please try again later.

Why do they even bother? They can't get ANYTHING right >:(.

I tried it, got the above message.

That about sums up Telkom's Service.

Typed a nice long complaint and it turns out they are experiencing a tecnical error. AAARGH!!!

Decided to try the online fault reporting and what a pleasant surprise.

Logged fault report Sunday 23/11 10:18pm.
Received email confirmation 23/11 10:19pm stating support representative will respond.
Received email 23/11 11:13pm advising query handed over to testing/dispatch center.
Monday 24/11 09:30am a Telkom technician rang the doorbell to come and test the line.

Seems the rather long extension cable I was using created noise on the line resulting in the dsl dropping frequently, changed the extension and it is working fine.

Well done Telkom

i have been having problems with my line for the last month and a half.... reported it on the 2nd of december, and they have cleared it 4 times with no change.

This brings me to question whether its worth reporting a fault or not ?? when they take more than a month to not even fix a problem, but "Investigate" it...

Line was dead from Monday, crossed over to someone else's physical line (when I dial my number it's a fax line now). Logged the fault online on Monday night, Follow up on Thursday, was told they will prioritized it, but still nothing yet.

Update: Just called home, line was fixed just now after technician spent 3 hours in and out.:o
