Actually slightly more, if you take inflation into consideration.

Nonetheless, I would like to see 192-512 dropped altogether, upgrading to 1024 for everyone on those packages, with prices for 1024 to equal current 192 prices.
And then a increase of 1024-2048, at 384 prices, and 4MB @ current 1024 prices.

Make a good start.

Oh, and cap -> 30GB at current 3GB package price, with each addtional GB at around R10.

[oh, and for a troupe of horny cheerleaders to come into my bedroom - while I am wishing the impossible]

Now that the ECB has been delayed, and Ivy's policy determination is also delayed...why shhould Telkom make any announcement? (They obviously are aware of the contents of Ivy's determinations).

Of course I'm cynical, I'm a Telkom victim.

all I can do is wish that Telkom would lower prices...

Moederloos, those prices u posted r still too much but would be a good start in moving SA up in the broadband world :(
 
I would not hold my breath we are still a good two years away from any type of competition .... if I were Telkom I would probably milk the public as much as possible during this period...
 
they trying to get as many people to sign up with them before SNO starts offering. Most SME's won't bother going thru all the trouble of change telecom's. The same goes for most households
 
I'm hoping for another 30%, but i think its unlikely to happen due to:

1) DoC muck up again, 1 month = lotsa $$ so if law is delayed why reduce your earning ahead of time ?

2) Pending on size of reduction 1 month extra charge = more dslams money + profit etc and with the rate they wanna achieve and still rake in dough, i'm thinking why drop now ? see point 1

3) Today/night is the 30th, tomrrow is the 31st, a friday which is 1/2 a day sort of(seems that way) then again Closer package was announced on a thursday afternoon/friday?

Unfortunately youre probably correct. Telkom will feed until the teat is forcibly removed.
 
There probably isn't going to be any price decreases now that the unions have been striking. The increase in salaries means a greater cost for telkom, less profits and hence I doubt they are going to decrease the ADSL costs anymore which would result in an even lower future profit.

Lower costs = more subscribers = bigger profits.

Something Telkom could never get into their heads. Everyone can have broadband at cheap prices, while they still rake in ALOT of money.

And when will we ever see this reduction in broadband prices? I'm actually counting on this, because currently it is a bit much to pay for me. :mad:

Here's hoping for a broadband offering, be it 192k or whatever at the most R200. :rolleyes:
 
Just went through our company telecom file and the bill for 2002 November when Adsl was introducuded was 82rand for line rental.
 
Im not getting my hopes up. This rate cut will probably mean R30 or R40 off ure DSL line charge.

Im happy with the line prices right now. I wish bandwidth pricing would change tho (/Me thinks back to the R199 for 30 gigs days)

I always doubted it would happen - and, based on my other posts of this nature, as well as past price announcements, it would probably be better if it does NOT happen - remember 1 nov 2005?
