DOES anybody have any news or info about this? I thought the announcement should come at the end of March - that is today, tomorrow or at the latest Friday?

Hi HXX

The latest response (23 March 2006) from Telkom on this issue was: "Some reductions are planned but we cannot as yet indicate when or how much."

Regards,

RPM

Probably be something along the lines of:

"Telkom is pleased to announce that all calls are now going to be billed per second. Each second will cost 20c, meaning a HUGE saving for all people that only make 1 or 2 second calls. People who abuse the telephone by speaking for more than 2 seconds will unfortunatly see an increase in their monthly costs"

So what about Wally's "promise"?

"It is not known by how much Telkom will reduce its prices but chief sales and marketing officer Wally Beelders promises a detailed announcement will be made by the end of March."

They probably waiting for the DOC's big hooha.

LOL! Sounds like you got some inside info.

RPM can we have Wally's email? I just want to know why he makes an empty promise like that?

It truly amazes me that Telkom expect us to believe that they have no decision yet. Surely a price change in a company as large as Telkom takes months to finalise?

I cannot for one second believe that a price change - with implications from billing systems to share price, from customer loyalty to service penetration - can all be done in a couple of days...

I hate Telkom! Lying again!! I for one hope the SNO comes ASAP so I can leave these bastards to stew in their own juice!

Everytime Telkom comes up with something like this I like to give them the benefit of the doubt initially. Perhaps they've finally seen the light and realised their time is limited. They're going to announce broadband and telephony prices in balance with the rest of the world and an increase in service quality that will bring our telecoms into the 21st century.

What? Stop laughing! They might! :D

WTH were you drinking last night! I want some too! could work for my stress levels

Could the announcement be about the "flat rate" telephone calls, or is it actually broadband (using the term lightly) related? I saw an advert on tv about the flat rates, but in the end you will pay more than the current system

Maybe this is the answer?

Damn - now I know why Telkom is delaying the price deductions till next month - they will like say "Prices are reduced 50%" - and then, like "April Fools Joke! BURRNNN!"

:D
