Telkom Prizes

All I have won from TELKOM is a "free" tub of Vasaleine!!! (and I had too pay for postage!!!) :)
 
This competition should be illegal because it's not accessible to ALL Telkom subscribers. it excludes 1. Non English Speakers, 2, Mutes. 3. Deaf people and 4. Deaf Mutes. By my reckoning that's a sizeable number of people left out who would enter if they could enter.
Shame on you Telkom
 
So now I know where all the Telkom line rental money goes to... for handing out prizes to cavedog :D

Wow! I won't say no to anything that's free! Never won anything. My phone line gets installed in just over a week. If I remember this thread I'll give it a go :)

That's missing the point. Why can't telkom provide a better interface? All companies which run exclusory competitions such as requiring single language or voice interaction/voice prompts are guilty of discrimatory practice. Such practice is not legal in the Developed World Countries.

Now i get you, this indeed is illegal. How do we report this to the ASA?
 
Just stumbled on this thread, what are the call charges to phone the 2010 competition line? Don't wanna do it if I am going to get a nasty surprise come month end.

That doesn't work for competition call in purposes does it?. It's an antiquated relic from 1995 which only works if another user has a teldem. There is no telkom dedicated relay system unlike Developed countries. (Relay as in free and instantaneous live voice to text and text to voice services)
In fact as far as I can tell there is no dedicated Telkom teldem operator either!!
So that's one device which they are at least 20 year behind the rest of the developed world in.
The offerings of telkom services to disabled people are pretty pathtic.
Back on topic. Even with a teldem, deaf callers couldn't call in to telkom. Never mind that, deaf callers couldn't call into ANY company requiring voice interface when running competitions as the majority now do.
What about the official 12 languages? Yeah. Teldem my arrse.
Telkom's Teldem is not even on par with the worldwide TDD (used in the UK and US and allows voice relays.)
But the next generation available today but not and probably never will be through telkom anyway is http://www.captel.com/faqs.php
