Telkom profits down

September further explained that the fixed-line segment faced significant operational challenges as a result of increased competition, fixed to mobile substitution, deregulation and rapidly changing business models within the ICT sector.

Pfft! Hopefully signs of good things to come! If the current market is considered competition, then the next report should have them selling off and breaking up the beast!

 Increased competition my...

Is it me or do I detect a certain hint of uncertainty and stupid excuses.
HAHAHA F*&$ you Telkom. BURN.
I think NEXT year will be even worse for Telkom.
Them breaking up in smaller departments (TV, Fixed, mobile, etc) is also cool. Its easier for competition to take down Telkom in smaller bits.

Now that's a nice way to start a Monday morning.

Telkom revenue down, down down down

He added: “This performance is reflective of the increased competition in the telecommunications landscape coupled with Telkom’s commitment to reducing the cost of telecommunications services through price reductions and significant value propositions to our customers.”

Bwahahaha, wash your mouth out with soap Reuben, it is unbecoming to tell fibs.

Just watched Telkom's Q and A session at the annual results and the analysts didn't look impressed. Most of the time Telkom said they couldn't give specifics beause of this and that but it didn't look good from where I sat.

One chap asked why Telkom's local traffic declined 17.8% and all they could say was that Closer packages had impacted on the figure but couldn't give an accurate breakdown of how much it has cannabilised. The analyst replied that it looked like their local traffic was collapsing.

I have a feeling that the share price may fall after this.

hmmm... looks like the mighty beast may well collapse before 2010!

Their very foundations are shaking in the face of looming competition. How on earth would they be able to stand in a free market when they are an oversized, inefficient parastatal?
