Telkom profits 'not shared'

When I phoned to inquire about ADSL the lady on the other end tried to talk me into some contract - shame, it was a 24 month one - she must get commision :cool:

Strange thing was is that thought that my exchange is not enabled while the telkom webiste thinks it is :confused:

My guess: They just lied to try make you think there is actually a valid reason for the ridiculous four+ week wait? They also tried to tell me about various mysterious "tests" that had to be done, when I knew the exchange was ready (and their own site also said so). Although still, that's sales, not support??

Anyway, I think lying must be standard practice there. When I was waiting for my ADSL line, and was complaining about the delays, they first claimed they "escalated my query" and that someone would phone me. Then when I complained that nobody called, they again lied to me saying that my cell # had been entered incorrectly in the system. Which is basically impossible, as the ISP division, which can only have gotten my cell # from them, had already phoned me on my cell a few days earlier.

The poor technician who eventually came to install it was doing so much overtime, he only arrived at my place after 19:00 and left around 20:00, and he still had one more installation to do. I said "they should hire more people", he said "they're busy retrenching people". WTF.
