I have noticed different variants of Telkom R when doing a manual network search.

It would seem that Vodacom is moving Telkom Mobile users onto a different platform , speeds tests varied drastically when selecting the different Telkom R options.

Telkom-R Stay at home had very fast speeds.

One of the Telkom R only offered Edge

Telkom -R 3G had very slow data speeds.

My location : Cape Town
Phone : iPhone

Telkom-R complete screw up. If the legal system worked here they would have been sued!!

Yeah it's because Telkom is changing their network name so there are a few of them but they are essentially the same except for the 3G and EDGE network names. Those are likely not changed because devices that support 3G or 2G only would not be able to change the network names so Telkom aren't playing with them. If that makes sense.

Except 2G data has never worked on Telkom-R, not properly anyway...

I've put my sim to stop roaming on Telkom-R now I can't make calls but I get full bars on LTE. What's good Telkom?

Changing their network name to ??

They adding that Stay at Home to their network name. Old 2G devices would likely not be able to recognise that and leave the without coverage so
