I have 2 SIM's in my phone (AGM X3). The primary is MTN as I get coverage in 99% of the district. Vodacom is a complete hit and miss. I have a second SIM from Telkom as a backup. Being out in the sticks there are no Telkom towers so it roams on VC. I often see that I have full, or almost full, reception on MTN, but Telkom(VC) is on and off all the time. Very much like we got with VC direct.
Today I decided to use my Telkom airtime to keep the SIM active. I wasn't getting comms so I moved around a bit and found a spot. I dialled the number and put it on speaker so that I could bring the number pad up to make a selection. I then moved to go sit down. I still had the phone on speaker and noticed I had no comms at all on the second SIM but was in an active call. It remained like this the 11:34min I was on the call. As soon as I ended the call, without moving, I redialled the number and got "no network" immediately.
In the screen shot, unfortunately, I didn't capture the scrolling text along the top that says "Emergency calls only". Nice to see that VC cares nothing about roaming customers. I never had this problem when roaming was on MTN, even on a few different phones over the years, the signal strength would be the same on both SIMS.
