Telkom rejects IS's claims

Telkom ALWAYS have an excuse.

But wait until IS have options available with the SNO and see Telkom begging for business.

The only thing you need to believe m8, is that Telkom has this COUNTRY by the nuts, with both hands, government included.

I still hold to my opinion that Telkom should have been split up into competing companies. It is not too late and this can still be done. It should be broken up into 3 or 4 (perhaps more) competing companies! The local loop should be unbundled and the undersea cables opened up for all... People who want to install their own should also be able to do so...

This company is holding this country to ransom! FFS GOVERNMENT! WAKE THE **** UP!!!!

I think that's one of the major problems with SA's brand of capitalism - we have no anti-monopoly legislation. No free market is actually free, there has to be some legislation to prevent corporations going out of control. The US has the Sherman Act which tries to prevent monopolies from dominating the industry and being able to gouge consumers. They split AT&T, at the time bigger than Telkom will ever be, using it into the regional baby bells (including ex-Telkom investor SBC).

Isnt that what happend in Australia Antowan, or something similar?

Everyone is so bloody worried about the shareholders, bugger them man.
Let them move along, open the market up and get some 'real' companies in here to do business, not pseudo privatised politically top heavy companies that ultimately tell the whole country what to do and hold us to ransom, ffs its ridiculous!

Get some real companies in here, with vision and purpose. There will be plenty of willing investors, @#ck Telkom.

I wish I could find a way of expressing my anger towards Telkom. But I'm afraid I will kill someone if I have a go. I think we should start a support group specifically for people who hate Telkom.

ROFLMAO! Couldn't agree more! :D

There is such a support group available. I can think of Hellkom and MyAdsl forums. The only problem is, we need a support group for Telkom in order to convince them to change their cheating ways and no-one seems able to acommodate them.

Hang Telkom high!

The entire country agrees with that sentiment my kind sir. Unfortunately Government is blinded by swathes of R200 notes.

@ Skip , yeah that is the US , but we are not the US , not oo long ago microsoft was taken to court accused of being a monopoly , their defense was , we can not help if you are the most popular . Dont know the exact figures but i have read/heard that 90% of all pc's use windows as their OS .
Microsoft has compition but people use it cos they feel comfortable with it .

We on the other hand , have telkom , 90% ( guess) use it , cos we have No other choice , the government does nothing , because it owns nearly a quarter of it , we all accuse telkom of being a monopoly , goverment does nothing , the government always tries to show us how lucky we are because prices around the world are a lot higher ( cigarettes in britian for example) , it is a long list , yet when we show the government how high our prices are , we are told , well nothing much , and given , well nothing much .

It would be far better if with the installation of a telkom landline you receive a free ball and chain and a dunce cap which you have to wear around the house . Our goverment actually promotes a monopoly , it actively kills production life inprovement , it increases the number of unemployed , and yet we sit here and try our level best to promote income , try and create jobs in the IT sector , thus improving the standard of living , yet we are seen as the bad people by telkom and its puppet master the government , how dare we want to make SA a better place !

My word it would be swell if just once (perhaps when the moon turns a lovely cyan colour), Telkom would try and uphold the country instead of screwing it. A nice response to IS would be

"Here are the stats of the Peering link. In fact, we'll do you one better. Here's a pulic URL so that anyone can monitor the link for themselves. Aren't we swell?"

Sod of dog.
