Telkom Routing Problem

Hi

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as I am, it seems that Telkom is having connection issues with certain domains after 6pm (Could be sooner but I essentially notice after 6pm). The problem is specific to some domains and haven't been able to pin point the cause.

The following domains basically time out:
Mail.yahoo.com (yahoo.com works)
reddit.com
facebook.com
a number of CDNs

this began some time last week wednesday, I have tried at different locations with the same result.

Agree. Been very slow to connect to Telkom of late.
 
I am having the same problem using Telkom LTE through WebAfrica. It happens to me no matter what time of day it is. Websites like now.dstv.com work fine but when attempting to stream video the qos.dstv.com url fails at the same IP address (165.165.184.21). This is affecting Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and WhatsApp (media only). I have logged a ticket with Telkom and will let you guys know once I receive a response.

These are the steps received from Telkom:

Note that user needs to lock their connection mode to TM 4G, to avoid fluctuating connection/Speeds.

The device is locked on “Auto”, which gives device full authority to skip between network bands.

User needs to log into device interface, as shown below.

On the web address bar, type : 192.168.8.1 + Enter

Log in with username and password as “admin”

  • Settings
  • Dial Up
  • Profile management
  • New Profile
  • Profile name : Telkom unrestricted
  • Edit APN
  • Insert “unrestricted” on APN field
  • Save

You can further optimise connection by registration on the highest band

  • Settings
  • Dial up
  • Network settings
  • Change preferred mode to “4G Only
  • Change search mode to manual
  • Apply
  • Select from the network list
  • Telkom SA 4G

That ought to stabilise connection

Test/Monitor the connection after these above has been refreshed in the same sequence.
