Once you get it working, might be a good idea to move your dad over to a gmail account. It's crazy to be using an ISP's email account these days.

I had the same problem,, i ended up having to phone telkom, and the dude on there helped me to change pop3 and smtp to an ip address. I know there should'nt be a difference between a domain name and an ip address but he said the servers read the numbers better.

Once i changed to those numbers, it worked straight away and hav'nt had a problem since.

I cant give you the numbers, cause i am on a different pc, so sorry for that but you will have to phone telkom.
 
Log on using secure authentication checked

just not working. any ideas?

take this tick out :) telkom don't support secure authentication should be the solution if not give us the error code its the number that looks like 0x800cccsomething
