Telkom getting hammered

Telkom SA SOC Ltd. shares extended their slump in Johannesburg after its acquisition target, Cell C Pty Ltd., agreed to an extended roaming deal with rival MTN Group Ltd.

Telkom stock has sunk to its lowest in almost a year and is down 17% in the past four days. The company said Nov. 15 it was in talks to buy Cell C and combine South Africa’s third and fourth-largest mobile-phone companies.

I wonder if Telkom killing ADSL is shrinking their customer base and affecting profits?
Also their continued bad service is affecting customer retention and affecting profits?
No, that can't be it.

Blaming cell c for Maseko's comments about ISPs being redundant.

The same company that brought you mandatory analogue lines with your ADSL *facepalm*

Telkom needs time to salvage all the copper and sell it for scraps , then they'll recover their losses

Both companies have extremely bad reputations in the mobile industry. This is going to be a union of note in terms of incompetence!

I'm hoping for sub R40

I was thinking of buying low too, for the same reason as you. However, what is the potential here? Openserve fibre line growth? Telkom Mobile?

What if Telkom buy CellC and CellC takes them down like they did Blue Label?

This feels like the next best way to lose money after crypto (for me).

I'd argue the farsical way they were decommissioning thier copper is undervalueing their stock. At least if it reaches sub R40 there's a good chance for some ROI.

I actually wanted to buy Telkom on the same strategy people used when investing in crypto .
