I think the number declining subs is special thanks to Copper Theft.....

They need to include free local calls and some free national minutes with the line rental, but they are too greedy and stupid to realise this. For the R139-00 line rental you can get some excellent deals from the mobile operators which includes free minutes and a phone you get to keep at the end of the contract.
Also, if they think that the mobile operators are eating into their landline numbers and their solution is 8ta they are in for a big surprise. Cell C which this month has been around for 10 years still hasnt made a profit and i dont see it being any different for 8ta in the next 10 years. Looking at their results this year, they need to do some serious soul searching or I think they might not be around in a few years time.
Number of trunk lines, not the number of extensions. And if it is IP based with PRI's then it does not count here but as a data line. How does telkom count these subscribers?
How do they account for the number of users behind a PBX in a company vs the number of lines connected to PBX?
I hope someone takes those subscriber numbers along when arguing that phone lines should not be mandatory for customers wanting an ADSL line, clearly phone lines are becoming less and less useful and desirable to the consumer year after year.
