I know it seems a long time, but five years ago 512k ADSL was first launched by Telkom at R680pm, just for the access portion.
There were no other broadband offerings. No iBurst, no MyWireless, no 3G , no HSDPA, No SNO, No LLU, No ADSL regs, No MyADSL forum.
So you might just be exaggerating ever so slightly.

What does 512k ADSL cost you today? I mean 3Gigs of it (as it was sold 5 YEARS ago)?
How far have we come?
And what was the rest of the world on back then?
And when other countries launched ADSL, what were they charging?
5 years is a long time in technology terms you know... 5 years ago, what was the entry level spec PC?

Considering a 512 line plus 3 gig acc came to 680+80+200 = R960, compared to todays 362+100+179 = R641 (rough estimates, 5 year old prices are hard to come by), over 5 years the price has come down by R319, or 33%..
Nothing amazing at all but just showing the facts
I know its not really the best of things, but im emigrating to the USA in about 4 months time, so hopefully i can surround myself in 1000+ tv channels and like 2Mb line with no cap or something. They really need to clean out ICASA and burn down telkom.
Competition, there is no ****ING competition. What I find so frustrating is that Mbeke says that Telkom needs to come to the party and then his ****ing Bitch does her own ****ing thing.
We will never have ****ING Competition in this country, it is just not possible, just when you think YAY, things are looking up, something happens, 2011, for **** sakes, this was suppsed to have happened ages ago.

i do not believe its a "slight" one, in fact, if anything its a complete understatement, lets see, we have ADSL now, looks a lot faster at UPTO 4MBPS bring the emphasis on UPTO, everyone who's using it will know that the international portion of it is what............ and then we DO NOT have Neotel YET, nor LLU. oh and by the way here is a site that we can all look at to prove what a load of bullS**T our POISON Ivy is.

UK LLU with timetable drawn towards end of 1999 which expects it to complete by end of 2001, lets see, I don't have enough fingers....... 2 YEARS, not 15, now thats a SLIGHT exaggeration don't you think? oh and lets not forget how the media over there is saying about this LLU timetable, its TOO SLOW.
