It would appear that legal action against Uninet has been ongoing for almost 3 years, with no successful steps taken against them yet, and none likely, hopefully.

"According to Herklaas Du Plessis, from the City of Johannesburg, it took the equivalent of three months of Telkom bills to pay off their complete wireless network costs."

Funny in a sick kindof way...

You know, the only reason this is happening is BECAUSE telkoms prices are so high. Government and 'the law' have only themselves to blame for not doing anything

did i read wrong?

25 cents per mbps? wait a minute, thats supposed to mean 25 CENTS for access at ONE MEGABITS PER SECOND? now lets see, from Telscum u get 1mbps line @ R680 + 3gB account @ +-R300 = R1000 total:mad: . 25 cents/mbps is NOT 1/20th of Telscum, its more like 1/4000th!:D me thinks i'll be moving to Knysna:rolleyes: ... (well until this whole thing hits Jozi)

lol

unfortunately the most progressive policies are being made outside parliament.
That pretty much summarizes the state of the telecoms sector in SA.

One can only imagine how far ahead our telecoms sector would have been if Poison Ivy was not in charge and we actually had a minister who was able to do their job. But as this article shows, the telecoms sector will eventually play game and prices WILL fall whether Telkom and the rest of them like it or not. Access to information is a must rather than a need in the times we live in, the sooner the government realises that, the better.
