Telkom strikers head back to work

hrm....

Wish i could ask for such an increase and bonus.

You see only ppl that do something get things done. Im sure if the public were to strike infront of telkoms buildings and not let them out or in we would get things addressed quicker.

problem is ppl are to lazy and procrastinate.

For crying out Loud

CWU said yesterday it had accepted Telkom’s revised offer of a 6,25% wage increase and a bonus payment of R10000 for the lowest paid employees.

What was the whole point of causing 9 days non-delivery of service?! This is the same counter-offer Telkom offered all 3 unions towards the end of March. Two of the three unions had the foresight to accept - understanding that a positive compromise is what gets things done and minimises difficulties for all parties. If only CWU wasn't so stubborn, new ADSL installations would (probably) not have been delayed by a whole month!

Telkom can shrug off the negative publicity like duck in water. The participating union members will receive 9 days no-pay. The consumer once again gets the short end of the stick.

This whole situation could've been avoided IMO. In SA, whether you speak up and protest (or not) the outcome will always be to the consumer's detriment. Drastic changes are required for it to be otherwise - and all those profiteering from the status quo will do whatever they can to drag it out as long as possible :(

The problem is that Telkom would lay charges against the protesters and cry that they're being victimised. Don't forget that baby Telkom will just run crying to mommy Government and throw their toys out the cot.

Where's the Customer-Centricism Papi promised? I've yet to see it in action. My personal experience shows that there are some dedicated, honest people working in Telkom for the greater good - they try to deliver service within the confines of corporate poilicy. Pity they're not the ones in charge - things would look a whole lot brighter if they were IMO.
